Can anyone point me to some info on 0700 numbers?

Seems like it costs 42ppm. But I had assumed it was a normal mobile number!!

As you appear to have found out, they are premium rate numbers.

They are a type of personalised number.

They are called 070 numbers and whilst they make look like a mobile number, the key is the third digit, zero means it is an 070 number, anything else, such as a 6 or 7 etc is a mobile number.

No, they are personal numbers, all 070xx in fact, that can be directed to other destinations like home or foreign mobiles. UK mobiles start only with 077, 078 and 079, and Isle of Man is 07624

When they started they were about the same tariff as mobile calls, about 25 to 50p, but they have never got any cheaper like mobiles have in the last 10 years. Nowadays they are often used by missed-call scammers that hang up on the first ring and expect people to call back to their time-wasting messages (eg just trying another extension), as they seem to get a part of the call revenue.

Costs to call vary depending on digits after 070.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

I only asked because I rang someone up on one of these numbers. The chat went on for over 30 mins and cost me £15!!!

My mobile bills are always tiny, so this one stood out like a sore thumb, ouch...
