code for car stereo

My Vauxhall radio says "code" when it requires a code, are you sure you are keying it in correctly.
On mine if the code was 1234 I would press button 1 once, then button 2 twice etc.

Had the same problem with a clio after changing battery. I had the car from new and looked up in service book the code that had been entered by garage. This would not be accepted so assumed the wrong code had been recorded.
Eventually remembered that I had had a letter from RETAINAGROUP shortly after purchase. It seems that Renault recorded this information with this company.
Rang Retainagroup and they provided the correct code in minutes.

Dont know if this will help if you were not the first owner.

lol might try the freezer thing just for the crack
im not the 1st owner and as the code in the book is crossed out and replaced with another in biro im sure the unit has been swapped too

the manual says wait for 0000 after code, then do as you say

I think if you exceed ten incorrect tries then the radio shuts down and then you need to ring or got Renault. But you have tried that.

What make and model is the stereo. You should be able to get it plugged into a laptop and get a memory dump. Will probably cost about £20 or so, but cheaper than a new stereo. Tell us the make and model so we can find out the procedure for obtaining the code. It may not be possible but it is worth hanging on to see if it is.
