wow - not sure i could help anyway (I'm ok with ford and a few others) but you've really not given much info..except you probably drive a renault.
Maybe more information may help, starting with the make + model of the stereo, then maybe the serial number of it (which will be on a sticker, on the stereo)Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0 -

This always happens when the battery is disconnected. The documentation for the car will include the activation code and tell you how to enter it.
If you've lost it then, yes, buy a new stereo.Je suis Charlie.0 -

Find the manual and look up how to enter the code. It'll probably be some complicated procedure which requires you to have 11 fingers and for it to be a full moon.Je suis Charlie.0 -
have the code written in the book, have tried that
it is crossed out and new one written in, so have tried that too
have done it by the book as have the garage
have a clio, not sure if the bloke before changed stereo from originol?
the display just says code it never goes back to 0000
it did to start with but after trying both codes a few times it just stays on code
no stickers on to give serial nmber im afraid
so annoyed
looks like a trip to halfords
if the garage had it for the morning and couldnt it looks like im doomed lol0 -
i'm pretty sure you get a couple of goes at the code..then they make you wait a while (15 minutes) before trying again..if you continue entering the wrong code the delay increasesUtinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0

thats right thats what book said so did all the delay thing, was 1 min then 2 mins etc after each time of trying
its been just saying code now for over a week lol it needs to be 0000 for me to enter a code
book says it should say 0000 when engine switched on, yeah right0 -
It looks like you are screwed. It probably has a "wait" time between code entry attempts which increases exponentially with each failed attempt, which is why it is not letting you try again. But, if the codes you have didn't work anyway, then as you have guessed it probably isn't the original unit.
It used to be rumoured that the coding would be wiped if you put the thing in a plastic bag and then put it in the freezer for a day. Never tried it, sounds like a load of cobblers to me.Je suis Charlie.0 -
thanks everyone
a trip to halfords then.
seems a daft set up to me,chucking a perfectly good system because i got a new battery lol0 -

You may as well try the freezer thing since the unit is toast anyway. Go on, I'd love to know if it works.
(You're only supposed to freeze the stereo, not the whole car LOL!)Je suis Charlie.0
