Student loan isn't a credit product. It is a government incentive. That will never appear on your credit report, and remains payable after bankruptcy.

You said it yourself, the address is not identical.

Like I said, you need to know the address as it appears on the ER, verbatim.

You then need to get your creditors to change your accounts to that address, verbatim.

This must also be the address you provide Equifax, and any potential creditor when applying.

I can't stress the word VERBATIM enough in this scenario!!

  • Thanks Iztools. My point is that it is my old address that is different, i have since then moved house and changed my credit card etc to the new address. Creditors will not be able to change my accounts to the correct address because i dont live there any more. Unless of course i have a lack of understanding of the process....

Please excuse me if i am being really stupid or missing some vital point here :-)
  • Right i have spoken to equifax, apparently i have only changed where the bill is sent to for my phone and credit card, not where the credit is registered too. There was a problem with the address linkage so the old house these were registered too was not showing up, meaning i basically had no credit history, all sorted now though - just gotta sort out Experian and CallCredit now.

Many thanks to everybody that helped on this thread.

Oh right in that case ignore what I said, I was going down the wrong path - it can take three months for accounts to show at your new address after telling the company you've moved :o

But he didn't say anything about student loan in his last post - but about student credit card. I thought is one of main stream banks credit cards for students?

I see that you have hopefully all in hand. Good luck and hope it's sorted soon!

  • Hi, sorry to thread jump, but i also have been trying to apply for a CC to transfer my current one £1800 to an interest free one.
I will cut to the chase!
I have just looked at Equifax and im not seeing anything bad, just lots of green dots, could it be my address also?
I live in a town called potton, but on equifax it has potton, sandy down....

  • Oh and random spaces in postcodes...im not picking arent i!
  • Well with my one there were no green dots, there was nothing at all as my old address had not linked to my new one (when i updated my credit card and they updated it to equifax the new address obviously did not match up to what equifax had on ER so equifax did not get the linkage). I did not get credit because it didnt look like i had any credit history.

    Three things to check -
Is every piece of credit you have showing up on the report? Old credits and new credits, including mobile phones and any cards.
Do each of these pieces of credit match up to your current address as you would expect?
Do the green dots go up to the current date?

If the answer to all these is yes then it looks like your credit file is up to date, otherwise you might need to speak to your creditors and make sure they send a correct update to equifax.
