My mum kept doing tests at the doctors and hospital and they all came back negative. She had a feeling she was pregnant but the doctor persuaded her she wasn't. 6 months later she found out she was expecting me :j but that was 22 years ago

Good Luck, i hope you get the result you want.

From what i know of pregnancy blood tests, they are pretty accurate but if you are in the very early stages of pregnancy your hcg level will be very low so therefore they wouldnt be able to say yes you are definatly pregnant.
Hcg levels on average double every 48hours with a healthy pregnancy so if you are pregnant depending on how long ago you had the last lot of bloods taken your hcg your hcg levels should have significantly increased.

With the home pregnancy tests are you using the same brand each time you try? I have known for some brands to be more sensitive than others, a good friend of mine swears by the sensitivity of Tesco's own brand of tests in fact they picked up a positive a week before her period should have been due, while at the same time the pregnancy tests they were using at the early pregnancy unit and blood tests were showing negative. She was infact pregnant but in the very very early stages.

I believe that a postive is 100% but a negative is not, if you get what I mean.

Ie. if you get a positive result, then barring any mix up at the labs, you are pregnant. However, if you get a negative then depending on when they did the test then you *could* be still pregnant.

I agree, although a bit unbelieveable but still true, I know someone who kept having neg blood tests till she was 8 months pregnant!

I had a miscarriage a couple of years ago and the blood tests kept coming back positive for over two weeks even though there was definitely nothing there. Seemingly it takes a wee while for the hormone to reduce in some peopl but I'm not sure whether it could come up as negative if you were pregnant. Urine tests can as my first two tests were neg with DD2 when I was definitely pregnant - it didn't turn positive until I was 6 weeks gone. Hormones are definitely funny things.......

8 months, crikey  i knew a girl who had a termination and her tests were negative the whole time, she was 12 weeks pregnant when she had the termination and the tests were still negative at that point. she had to pay for a private termination because the NHS wouldn't do it without a positive test apparently.

anyway, a blood test should be more sensitive to HCG and they can also tell what the level is and if it changes each day, sometimes they test blood for a few days when a miscarriage might have occurred but it's too early to tell from a scan - if the hormone levels rise each day the pregnancy is ongoing.

perhaps you could have a scan to check there's nothing causing the pains, such a a cyst. *HUGS*

like donna i was 6 weeks pregnant before my test was positive. this was my most recent pregnancy that miscarried. i've been pregnant twice before and each time i had a positive pregnancy test before my period was even due, but this time around the hormones just didn't get strong enough for a few weeks. i was told a test would probably be positive for a couple of weeks afterwards, even though the baby had died.

if you suspect pregnancy and are in pain then a scan woulds rule out ectopic pregnancy. i hope it gets sorted out soon and your pain stops.
