Any room for error or are they 100%?

I think you'd have to ask a doctor that particular question. I can see where there could be some doubt when using the home kits, but when a woman is pregnant there are certain changes that can be detected. So I suspect that if there is a margin for error, that this error is pretty small indeed.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

i would have thought blood tests were pretty spot on, i suppose if your dates were wrong maybe there would be a marginf or error...but id say (although not backed up by any evidence) that they would be accurate.
why..which way are you hoping they are wrong...have you had a neg and think it should be pos?
im 2 days late and done 2 tests that are neg but im still thinking i could be preg!!
and last time i gpt 4 positives and still didnt believe i WAS pregnant!0 -
just done some reading on here http://www.4woman.gov/faq/pregtest.pdf (hope works) http://www.early-pregnancy-tests.com/test-sensitivity.html0

I believe that a postive is 100% but a negative is not, if you get what I mean.
Ie. if you get a positive result, then barring any mix up at the labs, you are pregnant. However, if you get a negative then depending on when they did the test then you *could* be still pregnant.0 -
ask for repeat bloods doing. have u also done a home pregnancy test?
i agree with hobo28, a pos is usually a pos, a neg can be false if you have got dates mixed up etc, so they would usually repeat it.
or you could try having a urine one done at chemist arent they supposed to be accurate?0 -
I am just so fed up I could cry
My period is over a week late now, I've been having stomach cramps and pains all week, I did two home tests (both neg), GP has done blood test which was negative but he has said if still no side of my period by the end of this week to go for another blood test.
I've done two urine tests, the first one he said had some red blood cells in it so he wanted another one to make sure. So did that and now he wants ANOTHER ONE as there have been some "changes". !!!!!! does that mean?
I've never, ever not had a period, I've been on the pill for just over 15 years, recently I changed three months ago to a different brand, same hormones though.
I just don't know what to think anymore, feel very worried and as if the GP hasn't got a clue what he's looking for...0 -
what r the pains and cramps like?0

Just like period pain really, my stomach is a bit bloated too.0

not stabbing pains or anything?
im sure all will be fine, ru hoping to be pregnant or not?
changes in urine can happen for many reasons (1 being a UTI) its a shame your doc isnt being more helpful, when ru seeing him again?
tell him how concerned you are and hopefully he will be a bit more helpful. xxxxxxxxxxxx0 -
Going in tomorrow to do the other test. Not sure when I will see him, just got to go get bloods done if period doesn't show up.
I wouldn't mind being pregnant, although hadn't planned to be for a couple of months or so. Just want to know what is going on with my body!
Thanks for your repliesx
