Help!Mechanics-is this quote right?!

Hi I need the front passenger wing on my 2000 fiesta replacing and spraying and a crack in the bumper replacing. I was told that the wing costs £60 and takes 3 hours to put on.
However I've been given a final quote of £480 + VAT, including 10 hours of labour! can this be right? 10 hours to put on a wing?

:(

My old car cost £900ish for a new wing and door skin with respray, so that doesn't seem too far off, and that was cheapest quote from several places. Have you tried phoning around?

New wing, bumber & respray - £480+VAT seems reasonable to me. To give you an indication I've recently got a quote to repair damage to the rear qtr of my BMW, replace rear bumber, new rear lamp, respray etc, £2,400 all in, albeit from a BMW body shop.

i believe they heat it up, fill it, then remould it with small hand tools then smooth it and paint.

could be wrong, just what the guy said to me a while back ago.

I'm happy to pay a fair price (I do realise I have to pay to maintain my car!) and yes, of course I have tried phoning around but have had no luck with anywhere close by. I am new to my area so didn't realise this was the only garage doing bodywork nearby and just wanted to pop on here in my dinner hour and ask if anyone knew if the quote was reasonable.

Obviously I meant to type "Repaired" rather than "replaced" re: the bumper:rolleyes:

P.S no fancy handbags and make-up for me, but I've suffered considerable expense recently on relocating due to the death of my father and could do without needless expense so thought I'd ask opinions as to how reasonable it was. I'm not some bimbo who wants to keep her money for Prada

They are not just " putting on a wing ", it requires preparation, de -greasing, primer coats, under-seal to the inner surface etc. etc. as well as the actual fitting and painting.

Seems a fair quote to me.

Excuse my ignorance but are Fiesta wings welded or bolted on?

For a ten year old car I would be tempted to get a decent replacement from a scrapper.
