TalkTalk disingenuous over "FREE" connection fee?

TalkTalk are advertising a "free connection fee" offer on their website, but on calling them they told me that the offer has actually expired and that they're "having trouble updating the website." Furthermore the talktalk rep explicitly said to me that if you order it through the website you will NOT receive the free connection fee.
I spoke to a TalkTalk customer rep 4 days ago (Fri 15/1/10), and then on Saturday, and both times the conversation went the same:
ME - "Free connection offer still on, as is advertised on your website?
TALKTALK - "Sorry this offer expired yesterday."
ME - "But it's on your website, and you told me the same thing yesterday."
TALKTALK - "It's expired, sorry. If you order it online you won't receive the free connection fee."
ME - "Why is it on your website then?"
TALKTALK - "Having trouble updating it."
Today it's still on their website.
I'm aware that it's a WEB exclusive, but they explicitly said to me that if I ordered it online the free connection fee would not apply. And both advisors said the same thing so it doesn't seem like a one off thing.
Has anyone else had the same experience?

I've just switched (31st Dec) to Talk Talk and had to pay a £29 fee, other than a few services being different they seem ok so far, just need to get them to switch off 1571 and put call info back on :-\
Broadband seems adaquate but not as good as Bethere on the same line

Did you switch online acoley?
Also, if I'm interpreting their t&c correctly I just found out that the "30 day trial" they offer is just for broadband (i.e. you still have to keep their phone line), and that you still have to pay a disconnection fee.0 -

I ordered over the phone as I was a tiscali customer and wanting to change my package (i have broadband with tiscali, phone line with bt costing £30 a month). I got the essentials package with 2 months free,2 months at £9.24 then rest at normal price, plus free connection, free wireless router (altho already got one),only downside 18 month contract but its saving me near £12 a month .I actually got a good deal I think since i wasnt looking at moving anyway and was just going to pay the going rate lol.0
