Can I completely change my mobile phone plan, including handset, one year into my 24

I'm currently with 3 Mobile, and have a Sony Erricson. I'm paying £25 a month, and I'm getting a terrible deal. I've been with 3 for years now, almost 8 in fact, but there's no wauy in hell they're letting me cancel my contract. Therefore, I want to switch to a HTC Hero phone. The contract I'm after is the same price as my current one, but has much better features (mainly unlimited texts, calls, internet etc. Whereas my current phone has very limited calls and texts).

Therefore, I don't want to cancel my current contract, merely switch it for another. How would I go about doing this? Is it even possible?

Thanks in advance.

Probably not, unfortunately that is why it's called a contract and you signed up to the terms of it.

I had to buy out the last 6 months of my vodafone contract in order to get a new phone and contract. The only way i'd see them letting you do it is by paying full price for the phone....which would be quite a lot. You could also buy the pay and go Hero phone yourself and switch your sim card, but even then there's no guarantee they would amend your contract to improve your terms, yet keep your payments the same.....why would they, they lose out as they would still only have you as a guaranteed customer for the same length of time as originally.

    Hope that helps

Try calling and asking, however I suspect the only way you can change is to pay a early termination fee of your rental x months left (probably £300). Mobile and deals change all the time you could change now and be in the same situation next year.

Ypou may be able to lower the tarrif to a better price, but I suspect you will be stuck, you signed the contract and need to see it through.

    Sorry

They may let you upgrade to another tarrif as I know O2 will do this, but I doubt they will let you switch to another that's the same price. However, they definitetly won't let you have a new phone, you'll have to buy that sim free I'm afraid.
  • They subsidise the cost of the handsets so it is not in their interest to let you cancel / upgrade too early. Call them and see what they will do - even if you have to pay to cancel early you may be able to sell the old handset to recoup some of the cost?
