Hey if I bought an Apple Iphone on this American Network would it work in UK? Also can the Apple Iphone be unlocked in mobile phone shops?
Yes, however you would need to take out a contract on AT&T as well as paying for the phone, so you'd have to pay for a $30 a month 2 year contract.
Of course if your buying used form somewhere thats a different matter.
You'd also need to unlock and jailbreak it to use it over here with a UK sim, you'd have no warranty (as you've jailbroken it) and I suspect once you add up all the costs there will be little different to buying in the UK.0 -
To jailbreak/unlock an iPhone simply google 'blackra1n'. Its completely free (but I would advise making a donation).'Just because its on the internet don't believe it 100%'. Abraham Lincoln.

Sorry I wasn't advocating paying for the jailbreaking software although some market stalls may charge you. I mean by the time you have bought the US iphone, got it to the UK, considered the risk of no warranty, theres probably not a lot of difference to buying a UK one.0 -
For the Risk and cost of the American phone, just get one in the UK is a better idea.
No warranty on a £100's smartphone is risky. Plus with you having to pay $30 dollars that can rise or fall as exchange rates change, plus your bank may charge a fee and offer a poor rate for this monthly transaction.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -
I'm not sure shops/markets stalls really jailbreak iPhones. My friend took his into Carphone Warehouse and round the market and no one would touch it.
Eventually, he brought it to me and I did it in 5 mins for free :beer:0
