Its even easier to load on my phone and will hopefully use less battery power!!
Will only work on Opera (which imo uses more power) as WM IE just goes blank).Using my phone to post - apologies in advance for any typos0 -
Noticed there was something different, and the site was easier to read, but didn't realise that you'd made changes thought it was just me. So well done, I couldn't put my finger on it, just thought it looked better. Using Firefox 3.5.1 and Mac 10.4.110

I like the old familiar heading much better ! I always regret change for changes sake !! What was wrong with the old one that it needed changing ?0

it's ok but where's the <dunno> smiley gone to ?0

I was used to the old one and I usualy gripe and moan and all that I know yet always try to give constructive advice where I can, but I actually like this design now as I did before...
The search bar at the top of the forum is great, often on forums you end up spending three hours to find the most basic of features but if there was one thing I would've added at the top as well it would've been a log in field for the forums or main site...this is still hidden in the middle of the page under a load of other stuff...by making it more prominent you effectively yell at people to sign up and how can that be a bad thing?
Overall, very nicely done"Don't blink. Blink and you're dead. They are fast. Faster than you can believe. Don't turn your back. Don't look away. And don't blink. Good Luck" - The Doctor.0 -

It wasn't for change sake it was to make it more effective and modern (and we've already seen people moving round the site more) The reasons for the change are in the first post...
Future proofing. The new version has space for more tabs, plus we're planning to add like secondary navigation to help even more (coming soon).
Its a line and a half less high. It's got all the same info in, but in much less space - buying back height for the growing number of small screens on phones and netbooks. The only content that's gone is the links to 'content' (which is for disability access screenreaders, we now offer the same link but hidden only for screenreaders to see) and 'email a friend' as we now do that at a page level.
Search is now in the masthead. For consistency the site search is now in the same place on every page - this also frees up space from below.
New tabs. As well as the design there's a new Income & Family tab and we've got rid of the old protect your pocket. All the sections of the site are now in the new easy read style (compare to the old style via www.moneysavingexpert.com/protect )
The Masthead tells you where you are. You'll now see that wherever you are in the site the masthead reflects that as that tab is on (like the forum tab above)Martin Lewis, Money Saving Expert.

I like the new design and find myself wandering into more board, but please can we have the old smillies back?

For the webmeister: you need to change the .ico on forums.moneysavingexpert.com from the vbulletin icon back to Martin :money:"The state is the great fiction by which everybody seeks to live at the expense of everybody else." -- Frederic Bastiat, 1848.0
