Jaguar x type door locking problem
Hi all i'm new here.
I have a problem with my x type 2001 reg. Every time I try to lock with the key fob the horn will sound off twice but not unlock. I can manually lock using the key.
Today I have changed the battery on the fob and re-programmed it, but it still persists. Also on the dashboard it is showing as a door is open, I have checked all doors when locked and none stay open including the boot.
any suggestions please as i'm running out of the will to live lol

If the horn sounds when you try to lock it, it means something is probably open, or a dicky door switch.0

Go round them all and push them in/let them go a few times? Hopefully its more the recent weather rather than actually broken.
Failing that, remove them one at a time, disconnect and find some way to connect the wire(s) (1 wire connect it the body, if 2 wires, short together). If the switch is faulty, this should put the light out I would think (although dont quote me on that).0 -
thanks scotsman that sounds like a good idea will give it a go tomorrow will keep you posted .0

One thing you could do is with each car door open in turn, shove a screwdriver in sideways into the door lock so that the car thinks its locked.
If this puts the warning light off, then it will be one of the door striker plates that needs to be moved a mm or so.0 -
thanks harvey . iwill give it ago tomorrow.0

ive tried all the above still no joy , just wondering is the electric windows linked to the central locking as the fob has a function on it to close the windows , which works ,maybe the glass triggers a switch to say its open and wont lock the car ,many thanks pb0
