We go away on Friday so today have emptied all wash baskets and got up to date with ironing. Tomorrow night will polish and hoover downstairs, tuesday clean kitchen and downstairs loo, wed 2 upstairs bathrooms and run over with hoover, thrusday change beds and wash and dry any dirty washing.
Hope that when we get back house looks nice and inviting0 -
All the above is nice but not critical. What is critical is..........
Whatever else you do or don't do before departure, DON'T TURN OFF THE FREEZER!!!!!!
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

I'm South East too - leave on Friday.....any chance you want to pop over??????
I normally have the house cleaned and sorted during the week before we go, the last lot of washing gets hung on the airer ready to put away as soon as we get back (or if mum's looking after the cats, she'll iron it, reorganise the wardrobe, move all the cutlery around to a position that's easier...for whom???, she likes to clean my bathroom too...even if it's just been cleaned...:rotfl: )
I always get very organised and pack all my holiday washing according to colours in seperate bags, then it's just a case of chucking one in the wash when you get home."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
What's the point when you are leaving teenagers at home
having said that my DD hoovered and dusted for our return this week:eek: ...
I like to come home to a tidy house and I always leave the washing done and put away and the washing up done.;)0 -
I like to do major cleaning before going away. Besides the obligatory sweeping and mopping (I have wooden floors) and dusting, I wash all that needs to be washed.
Before all this, I go through everything and see if I can get rid of stuff while I do a good tidying up around.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -
Make sure that I am up to date with the washing and ironing so things are clear for when we get back, and generally tidy around - don't go over board. What I do though is try and do as much of the washing whilst we are away, so that I don't have to do it when I get back!0

I usually do the hoovering, dusting, clean my bathrooms, mopping, change bedding and I always wash everything and iron it itf I get chance. Make sure you don't leave anything that might go mouldy in the washing basket, ie anything damp or with a food spillage on it, I have come back to that a few times!
I always make sure I have plenty of good washing powder/fabric softener and OXI action in, ready for all that holiday washing!
I also make sure the bin is empty, oh and I ask my neighbours if they want to use my washing line in exchange for putting my wheelie bin out for me. It also helps make the house look occupied while we're not there.

Well, normally, before this year (my year for getting organised!!!) I have unfortunately left my flat in a bit of a tip!!! Usually because I've had to leave the flat at 4am and have been working right up until I go ie not getting in until midnight the night before!!!!!!!!! And in the past my dad has looked after the flat and bless him has made it lovely for me on my return!!! Even one year freshly painting it all!! This year however it will be lovely before I go, all washing done and as I've been doing a Flylady it will be clean and decluttered!!! Dad will be shocked!!!
