Hi Sainsburys are selling a Seagate 250gb external hard drive for £39.99. Is this a good buy?

TIA

If it's one of the Portable ones it's a decent price.
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die

250gb doesn't go very far these days though.

    Neither do Seagate's!!!

For £60-70 you can buy 1TB, much better value for money

How much data do you have to backup ?

Not much point IMHO in spending £70 on 1tb if you have only a handful of pictures and letters to back up :)

Yes it's portable with 2 yrs warranty.

I have 19 gb of photos to back up. I have been looking at memory sticks and would really need a 16 gb... the hard drive seemed better value for money but I don't know anything about them to tell if it's good value or not.

I looked at burning the photos to dvd but it said that it would take 17 hrs .

    Thanks for your comments

Two-year warranty and that price - I'd go for it dee. I suspect a usb-only interface but, again, for that price.... ;)

 Firewire, for example, or e-Sata.
