Thanks all for your replies, very interesting to get the different POVs especially other leaseholders. :T I really don't think there is any way to install an ASHP, I assume they would need to put up scaffolding or a cherry picker to install? My only outside wall is straight onto a bus lane so I would probably not get permission. Shops have to have windows cleaned and new signs put up at night! :eek:

I am only able to take the flooring up in the hall and bathroom in 'phase one', the master bedroom will follow in a few years, the kitchen-living area and bedroom two not for as long as possible as it's very well installed and all flows through. I have found 2KW heaters as Albyota suggests for £60 which is very reasonable. :money: My parents have underfloor heating which doesn't raise the floor level, perhaps the same as you suggest Katie.
