orange contract advice needed!

Hey,

I've been reading this forum for a while but just decided to register now to see if anyone can help me out.

My orange contract is in it's tenth month tomoro, and on my account on the site it says I am eligible for some offers (does anyone know what these offers are?). Does this mean I can now cancel my contract? I have a student contract but am graduating this year so won't be a student anymore. I don't really want to stay with orange to be honest, I've had nothing but trouble from them since I got my contract.

I've been reading on here and people are saying that they are gonna be charging us for IB...I've never ever received a bill off them! They don't send me them, so the only way I know how much I'm paying is from my bank statement (until recently, when I eventually managed to register my account online). I'm quite mad with them as well because I've found out I've been paying £3.00 a month for a pic msg bundle (which I didn't sign up for), I haven't rang them about it yet, figured it's not worth the hassle.

Quick summary of the problems I've had from them:
- first bill came to £130, I didn't find out cos they didn't even send me an invoice for it, so I only knew because all my money dissapeared out of my bank (bad, because as a student 130 quid is a months survival money). This happened due to an error of theirs (they didn't add the student account on, even though it was in my 'notes' on their system that I was a student). Once that was sorted they gave me the £90 extra as 'credit' on my account (yeah, their mistake but they still kept the cash, leaving me broke).
- I repeatedly asked them for bills, still not received any off them, they just take the money out of my bank without telling me how much
- They've added a pic msg bundle onto my phone without even asking me, so I'm paying 3 quid for something I don't even use!
- the majority of the time when I ring them up to complain or enquire about things either the phone rings a few times and then goes dead, or, it doesn't ring at all
- I've only just recently managed to register online to see exactly where I am spending my bill money (calls etc) and thus found out about the bundle they've added.

So, maybe you can see why I no longer want to be with orange.

Question is: What do I do now? Can anyone advise me? I was looking at contracts with free ipod videos but they seem expensive. I want one with around 500 txts a month and a pretty decent phone. That's all I ask for. Anyone got any ideas for me?

Thanks for reading, and sorry about the rant.

KKx

ok even though its saying you can upgrade with a new phone doesnt mean you can cancel you still have to wait till month 12
the pic messaging bundle where did you get it from? if it was dont at the time of the contract but not written on the paperwork might be worth arguing for it back but be careful its prob under the guise of a 'try' on the paperwork (free for a month and then chargeable after)
you can turn off the itemised billing by texting BILL to 2018 i think it is

hehehe, thanks for your reply. I might check out the orange one, but an 18month contract might be a bit long... i get bored with my phones and need them upgrading often. lol.

I would be so angry if Orange or anybody else didn't send me a bill (after requesting one so many times)!!! You could try and ask them for a duplicate bills for past months to try to see the charges set out that you paid for, but they may charge you a fee for this-possibly per bill (I would flatly refuse to pay this as you could say that having told Orange CS that you weren't receiving a bill they would send one out but you haven't got it yet, after so many requests-which may or may not have happened to you). Either it has genuinely got lost in the post or not delivered/Orange hasn't printed it or people working for RM has got sticky fingers.

The Orange student account lasts for 5 years from activation, so if you upgrade it should stay there. So it might be worth calling them up and threatening to leave.

I actually had almost exactly the same problems as you (except I was charged £160, £110, £80 in successive months all because they forgot to add the student package!!). Anyway even though I got that back in credit when it came to cancelling I got an excellent deal to stay for another 12 months (which I did).

So try calling 150 and selecting the option saying you are thinking of leaving (I think it still there) and tell them you are thinking of leaving to to t-mobile or something and ask if they could give you a better deal (tell them what phone you want, etc.)

Either way, I really would suggest calling up now and removing the picture bundle and IB, as thats £4.50 you don't need to waste next month!

Thanks Umer, so do I ring them up now or wait a month (i've just got into month 10)? Guess I'll see what they are offering me, I did want a contract with a free ipod video, but they are quite expensive contracts compared to what i'm on. really wanted a n91 nokia but i bet orange dont do them.

When I upgraded last year I did it when I just started my 11th month... but you may as well try it now! The worst they can say is no call back next month.... but don't forget to call up and cancel the Itemised billing and picture messaging bundle now.

(if you are up to it, try and complain about the picture bundle and say you never asked for it... if you are lucky they will give you some sort of credit. If you have NEVER sent a picture message then you might have a case as they can easily check that)
