Hi guys,
I have 2 contracts with O2 which are due to end soon - one on 27th July and the other on 3rd August. I got them through Mobileshop.com.
I want to get 1 or 2 contract connections, but I also want to transfer one of the numbers to my new connection.

I have a few questions on this:
1) When should I cancel the existing connections?
2) Can I stay with O2 and still transfer my number to the new connection?
3) I call India a lot, so which network would be the best in this regard?
4) What's the best 12 month deal going?

Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
    Thanks for the quick reply.
I am on an O2 plan (not sure abou the name), but I get 100 mins cross network and 100 texts each month. I would like to have as many cross network mins as possible (say at least 250-400 mins), texts are not that imp, and so about 50 is enough. As I said, I call India a lot, so would like to get as many free calls (using either the Simply-fone number or the 0844 numbers available).
Phone wise, not too fussed, but the better phone I get, the happier I will be! A SE K750i would be nice!

Actually, the questions I am most interested in is - Can I stay with O2 and still transfer my number to the new connection?

I guess I shuold call O2 now and cancel my contract.

Any suggestions about a new 12 month free contract would be very useful!

    1) To cancel you need to give them (o2) 30 days written notice (as written in the T&Cs).
    2) No, not straight across and not right away, your number needs to be ported out then back in again.
See my other recent post for a similar question for number 1 and 2 ;)

So even if the service provider (different online company I purchase the contract from) is different, I can't transfer the number across within the same network? Bummer!

One more question - if I were to transfer my number across to Orange (from O2), since I am very close to my end date (not a month left), how would I do it? When I call and ask for a PAC number, will they give it to me? Or will I have to wait for the one month notice to come near it's end before getting it?

I want to get an Orange network and transfer the number as soon as possible, but I can't understand how that can work if my o2 contract is not cancelled!
