Yay! Well done you! Get that sig knocked down and feel happy about it! How's he jobhunting going?
This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

Current Pay Off Target : £1500

No news on the jobhunting .... jobs section was in last nights paper though and theres loads of vacancies im gonna apply for... spent few hours this morning registering for employment agencies too to do some temping... so hopefully things will start looking up! (Plus today was the closing date for some jobs i applied for over a month ago.. so fingers crossed!)

OH is out at the moment doing a quote for his business.. and hopefully 2 more to do in next week or so if all goes well...... if he gets the job should be at least £70 for a days work.......... he also has a job interview for a part time job on tuesday.. so fingers crossed! :)

Unfortunetly my £4000.10 signature didnt include the £929.75 of mortgage arrears..... !! i forgot to update... :o

BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT im gonna change my sig in a min anyway to help myself feel more motivated... as im gonna seperate mine and OHs debts as we have now sorted a spreadsheet for his debt thats on my credit card so i can track how much he owes me... but making it like its a seperate debt.. like he has a "bank of girlfriend" credit card! :rotfl: It shows his

    - outstanding balance
    - paid on/paid off
    - minimum payment (3% or £5 whichever is less ;) )
    - Interest (great 0% until sept 2007 deal at the mo!)

By making him pay the minimum payment and any interest that amounts due to his debt it means im not being penalised for lending him the money.... i'll only be paying back MY debt. :)

(Im tempted to produce a "Bank of girlfriend" statement each month...... but i dont think he'd see the funny side :p :rotfl: :rotfl: )

Good luck hun. I've just started here and don't know that I can give you any advice other - but will say to be proud of yourself for all the positive things you have done to make your situation better. Its not easy when you are in a tough situation and you have had ill health too (been there). But it can get better so just remember you are a strong person to keep fighting as you have, and it will get better for you!!! - Hugs, Kate

Hi johanne. I just read your thread from start to finish and I am so pleased for you for all the bits of luck & good news that have come about over the last few days.

Stay positive my darlin' and keep us posted.

If it is any use at all, when I first started on here (with more debt than I have now  ) I really didn't know where to start or what would make a difference.

I can truly say that following the tips on here and keeping a positive attitude, finding things to sell (even things I thought I never could) have made such a difference.

Finding a penny off the street = a penny less on my debt...that's how much my attitude has changed! :T

Can't wait to see how things go for you & congratulations for your OH getting those two jobs - hoooooooray! :D

One last thing....I don't know if you want to stay in retail but have you tried walking in to shops to ask if they have any vacancies rather than looking in the paper? I used to work in a Payroll & Personnel department for a national retail chain and they used to ask me for loads of application forms to be sent out for people who would walk in off the street and because the turnover is quite high, they would keep them to save advertising again.

    Just a thought hon.

    Good luck xxxxx

  • Walking into places (whether its shops, cafes, bars- anything other than an office really) and asking for jobs is a great plan. It shows you're enthusiastic, and even if they don't have any vacancies you can leave your CV with them so that you get to know first when something does come up. When I used to work in a hotel a lot of people did this, but a few warnings:
    - Don't walk around with a whole bunch of CV's in your hand and make it obvious that you're going into every place you can find. It may be true, but you don't want a potential boss to know that you're more interested in the money than the work.
-Don't start with "Have you got any jobs?" - explain that you are interested in working in such-and-such industry, you have such-and-such relevant experience, do they have anything that might be suitable. The general idea is the same as an interview- you concentrate on what you can do for them, not what they can do for you. (It used to amaze me the amount of people that think shops, pubs, hotels etc are there just to provide them with money!)
Anyway, good luck with everything. Really please dto hear about all your progress, it sounds like you had a run of bad luck but things seem to be on the up- take advantage of it!

just thought id tell you all...i have a job interview on wednesday! Ooo! :) :j

bad news: i rang the council AGAIN today and my benefit still isnt sorted... and definetly wont be recieving payment in the next 7 days... when my rent is due.. the councils advice? "just cancel your direct debit and tell your landlord you cant afford it at the moment and will be late paying." Their response to me asking if thats the case shall l cancel my £55 council tax direct debit thats coming out in 5 days seen as they now owe me approx £130 in council tax benefit?? "Oh no... that will be seen as non payment.. you cant do that!" ..... so i can not pay my landlord cos i cant afford it... but should pay the council... even though its THEIR fault i cant pay... and now owe me in the region of £600 in benefits backpay for the 10 weeks its took to sort my " rapid reclaim" out! LOL

edited to add: Bank of mum and dad are giving me a cheque for £250 to cover the shortfall in my overdraft to cover my rent. Parents eh? Always rely on them to toss you a paddle when your up s**t creek! :)

  • Good luck with interview- hope it goes well. Anything good?
Bl**dy council are rubbish wherever you live- mine wanted me to pay £700 to them last week because my payment arrived a day late and they wanted to cancel the payment arrangement. Right hand don't know what left hands doing.
Let us know how interview goes.

Sorry im late replying! :o Thanks for the messages of good luck. I think it went ok... couldnt tell either way. Was for an Export Customer Service job in a shipping line. My dad has been in the shipping industry for over 30 years so the interviewer knew him quite well and alot of the interview he was brought up (he also helped me get the interview)... so its hard to guage how it went as i never been in that situation before. They said all candidates will be informed either way next week.. so just waiting now to see  I did my best though.. and thats what counts... whether i get it or not. :)

Waiting to hear about how OHs interview went too... they said they will let him know next week too.... so just a waiting game for both of us.

I handed my notice in today to my estate agent/landlord... so in a months time i move out! Yikes! Pretty annoyed though as only found out today i might have to pay £75 out of my deposit as an "administration charge" for changing my gas and electric suppliers from what was here when i moved in!
