Lloyds Tsb in branch withdrawals

Hi there,

Does anyone know how much cash you can withdraw in a Lloyds Tsb branch, without giving them any prior notice?

Regards Daz

Most banks have a limit circa £2,000 if you have photographic ID with you. You could always call and ask, they have excellent telephone customer services ;)
    Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48
  • I got £86,000 out of my account with LTSB !, I was withdrawing it to send on a BGC slip to Natwest for a Investment Bond !, only to have to transfer it back to LTSB a few weeks later (Due to problems with Natwest), that is one transaction I really wish I had never done.

Had to show my driving licence which they photocopied.

Not really sure if this is relevant as it was not £86,000 in cash so to speak just withdrawn from my account and LTSB stamped the credit slip for Natwest and processed it.

That's completely different, as they didn't ever hand you the cash, so they don't need to physically hold that much cash for you, and there's also an audit trail of exactly where the money went.

It's always worth speaking to a bank in advance of a large transaction to ensure the branch is holding sufficient cash at the time.

But how much would it be realistic to expect LTSB to have available for a customer withdrawal on the spot?

Each bank will have a daily limit. E.g. Halifax is £1,200, Nationwide is £500. Why not ask Lloyds directly if you want the correct information?

With the "real banks", e.g. Lloyds, Barclays, Natwest, HSBC, the cash withdrawal limit will vary by branch. Larger branches that deal with business customers will have a large amount of cash at hand and can probably deal with transactions in excess of £5000 without needing any notice. On the other hand, smaller branches would need notice for this.

I regularly w/d a grand with no problems. I always refuse their request for passport/drivers licence. I insist they compare my signature on my debit card with the one they hold on their system which gives them the two security checks they need. I they resist always ask for supervisor.

Depends on how large the branch is, but If in a reasonably size
town you should be able to easily withdraw amounts circa £5K when withdrawing using chip and pin, without any notification whatsoever. I've personally taken £7.5K on one occasion and £5K numerous times.

If you haven't got the card, pin number belonging to the account then it would be extremely unlikely to withdraw those amonts without prior notification or additional ID being required.

Have withdrawn £12000 without any notice from a Lloyds tsb branch in london. They are good in that respect as santander or halifax do not allow you to withdraw more than £500 or £1200 respectively without any prior notice. Hence I love Lloyds for allowing you to withdraw that kinda amount without any prior notice !!!!!
