I am with t-mobile at the moment but am looking to move to Virgin.

How does it work in relation to taking my number?

Do I call t-mobile and ask them to end my contract to the next payment date and ask for the PAC code?

If I then set sign with Virgin will I have to wait for the next payment date of T-mobile for my number to come accross or should I end T-mobile from Tuesday and get the PAC code and sign up with Virgin Today/Monday?

As long as your out of your minimum term with T call them and ask for your PAC code (it can take up to 7 days to arrive).
Give this to Virgin and after a few days the number gets moved from T to Virgin.
T will bill you for your last month (you have to give 30 notice even if you move before its up).
Job done.
