I wouldn't call an itouch a mp3 player - about the last thing I do with it is listen to music.I'd hardly call the lack of GPS on an mp3 player "crippling".
GPS would have been the icing on the cake for this device - well that, flash and a decent radio alarm clock that plays BBC stations.
Wpuld be nice to be able to stream live BBC TV streams as well but you can't have everything0 -

But it is an mp3 player. The fact it does lots of other things doesn't change that.GPS would have been the icing on the cake for this device - well that, flash and a decent radio alarm clock that plays BBC stations.

GPS would have been cool, as would a camera. I'm not too bothered about Flash; it's horribly resource hungry on desktop computers, never mind mobile devices. Apple are doing the right thing by trying to get developers to use open standards instead. Flash needs to go away and never come back.
What I would really love would be mobile internet, but as you say, you can't have everything.0 -

Have you been to http://iphone.tvcatchup.com on your iPod? All the Freeview channels streamed live, including all the BBC channels...0 -
And I'd hardly call the iPod touch an MP3 player. The prime reason for the success of these devices is the huge amount of applications built around them. a lot of these are based on picking up the iPhone location. This feature I won't be able to use even if I carry a mobile WiFi hub with me all the time to be connected to the web.I'd hardly call the lack of GPS on an mp3 player "crippling".Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????0 -

Apple make an iPod Touch with GPS; it's called an iPhone.
Well, you are not suggesting that people buy the iPhone because it is a phone, are you?
and although I have few Apple products, I can't help thinking it is quite cheeky of them the way they spec their products to keep you spending. I mean why can't the touch even bluetooth itself to an external GPS receiver is beyond me (oh well, actually I know so they get you to shell out for an iPhone even if you don't need the blooming phone).Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????0 -
In Japan the iPhone is rubbish compared to the other phones that sharp and so on churn out. The Softbank company is having to give away a 3Gs to customers for them to even think of getting one. Come on the rest of the world get your fingers out and just get the better stuff and skip 3G and go straight to 4GSurvey earnings total 2009 £417, 2010 £875, 2011 £5740

Sure I am. Do you think anyone would pay £40+ a month to use it if it couldn't make phone calls?and although I have few Apple products, I can't help thinking it is quite cheeky of them the way they spec their products to keep you spending. Not much point cannibalising your own products. In Japan the iPhone is rubbish compared to the other phones that sharp and so on churn out. Come on the rest of the world get your fingers out and just get the better stuff and skip 3G and go straight to 4G
That'll be why the iPhone is the most popular smartphone in Japan, with a 25% share of the market.
Mobile phones in Japan couldn't even access the real internet until the iPhone came along.0 -

(Not trying to be funny with words other than saying "yes", it's the character count. Although the characters in this post are far over 10, I could change, but I'm too lazy to change the above, so i'll keep typing instead. It's one of those days, ignore me
