Can anyone here recomend tesco home phone? Just wondered how it compared to BT. Would I have to change my ISP or can I kee p the one I have? Would I still get line rental from BT? Hope someone can help.
Thanks
I looked at Tesco Home Phone when it first came out but decided that their international calls were too dear so went with Onetel at the time. Then TalkTalk brought out a year of free UK calls evenings and w/end so changed to them. You really need to decide how you use your phone and read Martin's articles.
As regards comparing with BT, anything is cheaper than BT so you really need to compare with other call carriers!!
You still pay your line rental to BT, make sure you are on Option 1 which is £10.50 a month if you pay by dd and it won't affect your ISP.
Its also worth looking into 18866 and/or 1899 for your daytime, international and mobile calls.
Do a bit of reading of threads here and there are plenty of people willing to help you.

You would be better to choose TalkTalk as you get free evening and weekend local and national calls for a year, then it's £4.99 per month.
Your dial-up ISP will not be affected by the change.

I too have changed to Talk Talk - getting free evening and weekend calls for a year (as well as free calls to the US, Canada and Australia!) was just too good to turn down.
Then I signed up for 18866 for any calls I make during the day - these costing only 1p for the entire duration of the call (landlines only). If you can do better, please let us all know...
On the subject of Talk Talk, if you want to sign up, and get £20 in your account to start you off, then get a link from another Talk talk user. Beware, though, that the person referring you will ALSO get £20. If you want to sign up for Talk Talk, I will gladly send you a link - any payment I receive for doing this would be sent to the DEC Sunami appeal.0 -
Unfortunately, they have withdrawn the free international calls from the January offer - but it's still one of the best available.I too have changed to Talk Talk - getting free evening and weekend calls for a year (as well as free calls to the US, Canada and Australia!) was just too good to turn down.30 years, 217 days!0
