iPhone and MBP insurance..

Hi all,
I'm going to be getting a iPhone soon to replace my 2g, either a 3gs or the new one when it eventually comes out , and I was just wondering, I'll be getting it on orange.. but what is the best way to insure it for loss, accidental damage or theft?
I noticed orange insure it for £12 a month I'm with Natwest do they offer any insurance?
I'll be going to uni next september and so obviously want it insured. Now I have a macbook pro as well and that is insured by pcworld which is quite good ( £9 pm) but they don't cover for loss or theft.. would natwest cover that as well?
Cheers
Jack

Natwest do the "Advantage Gold" package which inludes mobile phone insurance (from LSG I think). And this includes the Iphone. It costs £12.95 per month, but you get other benefits such as car breakdown cover, travel insurance, accidental death insurance, discounts on products, extended warranty on white goods. Lots of benefits really. Or there is Advantage Blue which just offers eithe the phone insurance or the breakdown cover and other benefits like 241 on cinema tickets too! So a little bit cheaper than Orange and some extra benefits too.

Edit: as for the Macbook, does this not come under a your home insurance policy? and for that matter, do you have a home insurance policy? as mine has £10,000 of personal possessions which I can take out of the house and still have insured (mobile phone, laptops, satnav etc).

My parents do but I'm thinking more for when I go to uni, okay cheers :)
  • Just a tip for Jack or others who are looking at mobile phone (including iPhone) insurance. Orange Care may be a little more expensive (£12 vs £8) but there is a significant difference in service. Example in Case: A friend dropped his iPhone at a party on NYE. He was insured with CPW and called them within 24-48 hours to make a claim. He JUST received his replacement there on Friday 15th Jan - thats a TWO WEEK wait without a phone - and how much was the excess I may add? Orange Care will issue a replacement within 24hours of a received claim (provided it falls within the limits of the insurance - only thing it doesnt cover is negligence, e.g. throwing against a wall, leaving unattended in a bag etc or sonic boom) and will even deliver on a Sunday! I have seen insurance replacements arranged with Orange Care at 5pm on a Saturday to be delivered the following morning at 9am - now that's service worth paying for! :) (P.S. Their admin fee is just £15 vs many higher excesses usually from £30-50)

    Hope this clarifys some!

    Yes, and no.
  • You may find a better option is to use a specialist iPhone insurance company like iphoneinsurancecover.co.uk. They dont cover loss but they cover most other things. From what I have seen, you need to be crystal clear as to what the others will actually cover.
