  • Ours would not drain all i did was pull it out from under the work surface and the waste pipe had somehow got a small kink in it don't know how because it's sat there for 2 years now. So i un kinked it and hey presto good as new. What I'm saying is it could be somthing very simple.

    Taking that example ( thanks)

£95 call out Plus 'bits' ( OP is 5 years old)

Result you still have a five year old , that for now works.

    New £300
My conclusion , buy another one .

But if it is out of warranty, although otherwise reliable, you could use a trusted local repair person for less ...

And you would have a 5 year old model with one ( only one  ) brand new part .

And after paying out .... something , an unknown amount, it Could go wrong next week , for an entirely different part.

Its easy , buy a new one or get another pair of rubber gloves.

Of course, and that is the age old question of repair or replace.

Unfortunately, we live in a world of disposable items, where it is often not worth repairing something - even of high value such as this or even a car - for the sake of one or two small parts. And the parts in reality cost pennies to make, but we are charged £££ or even £100's for them - do I sense a conspiracy by the manufacturers here

    I don't know

But , in my house ( because we are bone idle ) everything gets chucked in the Dishwasher.
So the machine is put on nearly everyday
    365 x 5 =1825
Cost of new dishwasher divided 1825 =
But If my dishwasher broke down tomorrow , it would be replaced very very quickly. Same as the washing machine ... they have become invaluable.
  • Anyway I have been ill so haven't really felt like messing around with dish washers so it's been sitting in the corner of the kitchen. I had a bit of a fiddle around, took the drain pump off and out plopped a lemon pip. Works fine now, pity we bought an new one, anyone need a dish washer.:o
Nothing to see here, move along.
