Thats better . but not far off the ground.

Hi wallbash, Do you seal the stack with anything? in the pictures above, I had to render and plaster this whole house.
(5 bedrooms) I was their a good 6 weeks and I can remember that room smelling "sooty" for the duration I was there. Admitadly I wasnt there when it it was finished ie chippy finished skirts, carpets down etc.
My plasterer used the usual PVA. As soon as the plaster was on, the smell went - certainly nothing lingering even by the time the plaster was dry. Thinking about the experiences, most chimneys had been unused for a year or 2 - although I could still smell the soot when it was exposed. It may be that the problem is soot finding its way under the floor boards?

Possibly, thats what I do - PVA Neat (only neat when sealing to board over). Did he wet plaster it or D&D it though? Obviously if its been wet plastered this will do the trick.
Also, thi stack had been used more recently than 2 years - might have had a bearing
    Thanks for that.

It was wet plastered. What does D & D stand for?
