Movies are origionally made on film that has a refresh rate of 25 frames per second
the only tvs i have seen compatible with 24p(25 frames a second) are full 1080p tvs. my ps3 has a 1080p 24 setting. it works on our 1080p tv down stairs but not the tv upstairs that only goes upto 1080i.0 -

My pioneer 42" 768 (Not full) pixel tv is 24Hz compatible:idea:0 -

Some tvs do scale better than others, but that has nothing to do with interlaced or progressive material:idea:0 -

i think i just got myself confused because of when i watch certain dvds some of them dont look great at the full 1080p and are better set lower.
i should have left that bit about scaling off. was the rest of the post right?0 -

The pioneer accepts a full 1080P 24Hz 'signal'
Obviously it cant display a 1080P picture so it has to downscale but it will show it at the proper 24Hz:idea:0 -
Whats being used to upscale?
we used to watch them on a samsung dvd player which upscaled to 1080i then we used the ps3 and now my dad also has a sony blu ray player that upscales to 1080p. all have been connected to a samsung 1080p tv. personally i think it is down to the quality of the recording on the disc. dvds of old sitcoms are pointless upscaled to 1080p.0 -
Some discs dont look too great, but are you claiming they look better when scaled by the tv instead?:idea:0
