Thanks for your support jeannieblue.

Which means the warranty (if it is still covered) would be null and void, or worse it could be for something like wheel nuts, which would mean in a crash you could be taken to be liable as you were notified of a potential serious fault and you chose not to rectify it, ergo knowingly driving an unroadworthy vehicle on the public highway.
Its 2 hours...go have lunch, wander round the shops...its what I did when my windscreen was getting replaced, not hard to kill 2 hours....at worst...go visit the library and read a book for 2 hours
it seems like its a big hassle for the op so i was giving them the other option, fix it or don't.
if you want the car fixed and kept in good shape then allow time for this.
if not then carry on regardless....work permit granted!0 -
Ultimately you chose when to book the car in. Why didn't/don't you choose a day/time that's more convenient for you. Also, one of the options was to drop you off in town and collect you again, why not get them to drop you off and collect you from work. Most dealers I've been with are even willing to come and collect the car themselves.0

Check the policy wording of your own insurance. If you're over 25 and fully comp you're probably covered third party anyway so don't need to pay them the £15.
Thanks rev_henry, This is more like the replies I need.
I am fully comp and covered for third pary.
However I don't think they would be happy to let me drive away with only third party insurance.0 -

Garage is a 30 minute drive away.
I asked if they would pick car up from my home, reply No.
I think I need to get back on the phone to them and be much stronger.0 -

i think you need to get your head out your !!!!! and get it to the garage. how much time do you intend wasting phoning and argueing with the garage? you could have had it fixed by the time you stop argueing.
find a time slot in your week, even if it is the weekend tell them they can hold it till monday if there is any kind of hold up, if there is a hold up then you will need a courtesy car.
!!!!!! happens....work permit granted!0 -
It hasn't been a problem at our local Vaux dealers when we've had our Corsa in for servicing...atticgirl2003 wrote: »Thanks rev_henry, This is more like the replies I need.

Difficult to arrange a convenient time to book it in if they don't do weekends and you work Monday to Friday 9-5 with the garage 30 minutes away!
I suspect the problem may lie with the fact that under 3rd party only cover, you'd need to buy them a new car if you have an accident. You'd need comprehensive insurance on the vehicle just in case.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

Figure that one, the way I see it is, they could come up against a problem with any car, even just in for a service or MOT repairs.
Not many, infact no main agents have workshop staff working weekends...0 -

how much money do you think the dealer makes from recall work?
if you want a hire car then pay the insurance
if not wait until you have holidays and do it then
how do you get your car serviced?
you work mon to fri but expect others to work the weekend?0
