    ARE YOU SERIOUS

ok, you are new on here, stick around, read some old threads, you will learn a lot

but jeez i was almost tempted to pm you my bank a/c number there

    Errrrrr.

They were asking for WONGA's bank details, not yours.
A perfectly reasonable request and maybe one that our more cavalier protectors of the realm would like to know as well.

I am fairly new on here so I do not know whether this has been said before, but after talking to my bank I have realised that Wonga and most other payday loan companies are on a clever trick.

They ask for the long debit card number which comes as what my calls a debit guarantee, basically there is no way to reject this payment when they ask for it unless the card is not active.

A normal derect debit will be sent back my a bank but becasue they have that card numer it has to be paid no matter what.

Hi and stick around the forums, lots to talk about.

TBH I wouldn't call it a trick. You take out a payday loan you agree to pay it back, on a specfic date. I'm sure that 99.9% of customers who do that have no problems whatsoever.

Most of the people complaining on these forums, are those that have failed to pay back the money when they agreed too.

If you are having trouble with wonga and your finances, then post over on the debt free wanabee board you situation with regards Wonga and even your general financial problems as there are lots of people over on the DFW board who can offer advice/support.

If you repeat these words on the DFW board, you get reported for abuse!

i dont find that in anyway reasonable at all, in fact i think it is mightly irresponsible to ask for bank details of any company on an internet forum with the intention of paying money into it  ANYONE could answer that with ANY bank a/c details - rights and wrongs of payday loan companies methods aside there are ways we can keep safe and this is not one of them

i wasnt trying to be cheeky i just wanted to alert the poster to how silly this could be

Holy cow, imagine that, the sneaky little swines.

The tone of your post suggests you think it only right that you can take a loan out, and tell them to take a run and jump when it is repayment time.

Do you not think it a good idea to have an assured method of repayment.

@ twistedpsycho - Shhhhhh! you may give someone a twisted idea. They might put their OWN bank account numbers on here BUT WRITE WONGA next to it!!! Eeeekk!! the whole World's gone mad!

i have used them myself to get out of tricky situation numerous amounts of times and i have never had any problems at all i find that they are the best out of all the short term loan people as you have the money within 15 mins and you arrange the day you can pay them back whether that be in a day or 30 days whatever and obviously the more time you take it over the higher the interest BUT as for saying they are scammers etc i think this is a bit WRONG cause like i stated above YOU MAKE AN ARRANGEMENT FOR A DAY THAT SUITS YOU it is then under a binding arrangement for that day if you forget ( which i think is impossible as they email you reminders and text you as well ) or are unable to pay that is down to you not them they have kept their side of the bargain paying you the money taking the funds back on the day you requested it is infact you that have broken the agreement not them!

And as for the amount of interest etc every one knows that companies like this do charge alot of interest especially if not paid! x

so just to recap i use them when i need to and i have recommended them to friends and family when they are in sticky situations x

just wanted to add a bit about wonga.

I stupidly got myself in a mess financially, and wonga was a creditor, my original loan was £200 then with charges etc i owed £438. i owed the payment in march however i could not pay and it did get nasty for a while, with threatening letters from their 'solicitors' however i set up a repayment plan of £43 a month.

wonga emailed me yesterday (they seem to do everything by email) and offered me a full and final settlement of £212, if i pay over 3 months. i agreed to this if i could start in october, which they accepted.

so fingers crossed i will be rid of them by christmas!!

Hi new on here and praying someone can help? I took out a payday loan of £150 to be paid back on the 30th dec, Couldnt make my payment and have tried and tried to call wonga.com to arrange payment for end of Jan, however im on hold for 15mins at a time and cant get through or they cut me off, They have sent me 3 e mails and now state i owe them £292, I have cancelled my card and heard horror stories of them clearing out accounts, Is it right i now owe so much?? dont know what to do please help _pale_

We had a few clients who took loans from wonga and the outcome was very bad, simply ask them for the original signed agreement they will back down. It is against the consumer credit agreement you did not sign for anything so any further charges they are add on are technically illegal and unenforceable in court

I took out a small loan (about £150)with Wonga in September as I was changing jobs,I had been offered & accepted a new job.I went to start it & was told the job was no longer there. This was after I took out the loan & left my old job.The reason I took out the loan was I was going from fortnightly to monthly pay.
Anyway,I got messed around by the DSS over my JSA & was in progress of making arrangement's with Wonga to repay the £230.they sent me threatening e-mail's & nice as pie letters & I had resorted to contacting them by E-Mail (one reason I had proof of the communication & what was said) as they were impossible to get on the phone.
Anyway, one Monday I got a text from Wonga thanking me for repaying the loan, which was a bit odd as I am/was on JSA & at most, the was a couple quid in the bank.
I contacted the bank who advised me they had been trying to take money from my account daily over the past two weeks but not to worry as they couldn't as my balance was so low.
Wednesday,I went to pay my BT bill only to find I was £230 overdrawn as Wonga had managed to take the money from my account.apparently this was because my JSA had been paid in.By now,I owed Wonga £280.The bank gave ma an overdraft of £290,to include the £230 plus allow for my JSA payment.
So I am now on an draw down arrangement with my bank at £20 a month.
I must stress that problems with the JSA delayed my repayments to Wonga & I was trying to work with them at the time to repay the debt.Note also the figures I've quoted may not be accurate as I dont have the statements to hand.
