Why is it that going to University Costs so much.

Just because you've found some who leave a lot to be desired doesn't mean all university students and graduates are the same. It's really rather ignorant to tar everyone with the same brush.
I didn't. I acknowledged that a few are rather good, but the majority aren't.I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care

Actually, students from poorer families can be comparatively comfortable financially at university as there are grants and bursaries available to them as well as student loans; these aren't available to students from wealthier families.
It's the families like mine where the students suffer the most: we aren't considered poor, but we aren't well off either, so we are in the middle. This means that the amount of money DD gets from the SLC is the minimum, but this doesn't cover all her costs - she doesn't qualify for anything else, but we can't afford to subsidise her. She has found it really difficult to get jobs over the past 3 years and has just been told her hours (never guaranteed in the first place) are being cut to virtually nothing. Her loan only just covers her rent, yet she still has to live!!!0
