Are you sure she didn't just nip down to the pet shop and got a similar one while you weren't looking? ;)

    :rotfl:
I shouldn't laugh but it reminds me of a few Christmases ago when my dad accidentally let slip that he'd personally PTS my rabbit when I was a kid. She had pneumonia and lost the use of her back end; the next day they told me she'd died and I believed that for about twenty five years!

  • Maybe kindofagilr's mum was just very observant and chose a good match. Or maybe fish have more distinctive personalities than I realised and it really was Tetra ( great name!)

As a Scot I shouldn't be so skeptical about the revival powers of a good whisky!

An old family friend who passed away a few years ago, kept goldfish when I knew him (from a young age) called Fish & Chips, Chips died after 3 years (this was 2 goldfish in a little bowl) and Fish lived for well over 10 years, he died at least 3 times and when drunk one night gave the fish mouth to mouth, and then put him in the toilet to flush and he started swimming round the loo :rotfl: He seemed to thrive best in manky dirty water!!
  • My ikkle fishy has jumped out the tank more times than I can remember. He will be coming up for 20 years old this year and hes a bit blind but still going strong bless him x
You cant have everything; where would you put it? ;)

  • What's with jumping fish? I woke up couple weeks ago to hear the girlfriend screaming. Went downstairs and there she was pointing at a flapping fish on the floor. I don't think it occurred to her to pick it up and put it in the tank. Glad she was out that night otherwise poor Oscar would have been rather dead come morning. He's done it again as well, but thankfully we were in the room. This is despite the fact that we have a glass lid on the tank, so I've had to resort to clingfilm around the edges.

Goldfish tend to jump out of water that they dont like! For example, it could have too many toxins in. Does your tank have a water filter? Goldfish are very dirty and need a good filter to keep the water in tip top condition.

Poor fishy is trying to land himself in better water, so to speak!
What matters most is how well you walk through the fire
