Advice desperate please. 82% physical memory used on laptop!

    Thanks for clarifying. Since you have 1Gb of RAM and VISTA I doubt there is a memory problem. Any large(ish) program can easily use that amount of memory while in use.
    For perspective, I am running XP with 1 Gb RAM and I have 60% memory useage. VISTA is much more memory hungry than XP.
    Try saying "I have under-a-pound in my wallet" and listen to people react!

    If its newish laptop surely it should have more than 1gb of ram in it norm is now 3gb, 2gb even a couple of years back, is it a netbook you got?

    Good point. I've got a 3 year old laptop and it's got 2gb of ram.
    I went away and now I'm back.:j:j
