Im changing around my kitchen and want to put my F/F next to my cooker there will be a gap about 10cm, as my cooker is 50cm and the gap is 60cm, is this big enough? will it affect my f/f being next to the cooker?

I would say yes it will affect it and in any event the conventional wisdom is you should not do it. But its your choice and if you so decide theres a fair chance that you'll prolly get away with it though.elektra-2007 wrote: »will it affect my f/f being next to the cooker?

My Fridge /freezer has been next to my double ( built in ) oven for six years .
No problems.0 -
It's not a "problem", just there are consequences. The air alongside/close to your FF will be warmer when your cooker is (or has been) on, so the FF will be working harder to stay cool - this will result in higher electricity bills.0

Ours is a built in oven next to a freezer with very little clearance.
No problem.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -

Wonder how you could work the sums out?
But my kitchen works with the present ( six years) set up.The air alongside/close to your FF will be warmer when your cooker is (or
Yes , but if I keep the fridge door closed ?? will it make a difference?
I realise that when I open the door, allowing 'hot' air in , fridge will work harder.
If the door is kept shut , ??

i think there is a bit of a difference between having a built-in oven next to a fridge/freezer, and having a freestanding cooker next to a fridge/freezer.
We have a line up of .....built-in single oven.....fridge in housing unit....freezer in housing unit. This works fine as there is plenty of ventilation space behind the fridge and freezer, and the oven is well insulated.
A freestanding cooker with hotplates will generate far more heat, so would not be good.0 -
A decent quality free standing oven will have insulation and IMHO the side should not get so hot as to have any significant effect on an adjacent fridge / freezer"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi
