Don't you dare touch it. If you do your installer can quite happily walk away from his obligations - it was only installed a month ago. Get the guy back in and invite him to fix!.

    Cheers

not sure any installer could void any warrenty just because you turned the rads off ..get real

HE - Please do not put words in my mouth. I never said anything about voiding a warranty.

    Thank you.

    Cheers

just quoting what you have said ..i think its a crazy idea that you are not allowed to turn your rads on and off just in case your installer wants to walk away from his obligations as you put it .

there is no reason why you cannot turn your rads off to check the other rad ..none at all ..

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
we had probs with our boiler (had hot water, but no heating) in early Jan during very cold weather... called BG out (on the monday) and they sent somebody same day, his advice was it was a blockage in the system and needed a £600 powerflush and also recommened changing the boiler due to it being past its best (its about 10 years old!).

Managed to get system working (after going to buy a couple of fan heaters to keep me and the wife and young child warm!), worked fine until the thursday when it stopped working again (somebody came out friday) and again just advised that it was a blockage in the boiler (just by feeling the feed and return pipes from the boiler!!) and it needed the powerflush.. had a relative whos Gas Safe registered come and have a look on the Sat morning and he advised to put the heaters we purchased on in the kitchen as the feed and return pipes had frozen due to the extreme cold weather... he was here for 10 mins and said that give it a couple of hours and it would be fine.... surprise surprise, we did this and the boiler has worked without a fault ever since..

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:You don't get it do you? OK heres the scenario:

OP: I called you back because the system isn't working properly.
Fitter: OK whats wrong with it?
OP: One radiator not working but now they are all not working very well. I posted on MSE and this nice man told me to turn off the other rads. So I closed all the valves. The rad that wasn't working got a bit warm. The nice man said that it was probably the system balance then so I tried to do it but I couldn't even though he said it was very easy.
Fitter: Mmm - OK lets have a look at it. (Later) Actually it was the ......... (pick anything you like) and it would have taken me about 15 minutes to sort out which I is, of course, under warranty. However as a result of what you've done I have had additional work to do which I would not have otherwise had to do and which has taken another 2 hours. Heres the bill!

Rule of thumb - Problem with work recently done. However simple it is - call the contractor back.

    Cheers
