Hi all
I'm sorry if this has been asked a million times, but i am going to be updating my heating system to a combi.
I have had a quote through and i have these choices:
1)Worcester 28i Junior combi
2)Vaillant ecomax 828 condensing combi
3)Vaillant 828 turbo max combi
I live in a 2 bed terrace with 5 rads,2 adults living here.
Which would be best for the size of my house??
I am also having new rads at the same time
Cheers

Quote from Worcesters literature
"The 28i Junior suitable for a medium sized 1 bath flat apartment or house" are you sure the output will be enough for your requirements ? It is rated at 8 to 27.5 kw so i am guessing yes. Its also a Sedbuk uk D rated boiler
Output for the Vaillant ecomax 828 is similar at 28kw and its an A rated (condensing) boiler. that's the one i would go for....best of luck with it0 -

I recently fitted the worcester bosch in a 4 bedroom house with 9 rads and the boiler murdered the heating with no problems at all. It is a small case size boiler and can fit in numerous locations. Its compact with not much to go wrong inside. This will almost certainly be ok for your house.
If you opt for the condensing boiler, expect the case to be larger, and expect the large plumes of steam you are going to get. Imagine a steam train outside your back door on a cold morning. and as I've posted before, make sure you get a fitter who has been trained to install and commission condensing boilers. If not fitted correctly, it wont work as its supposed to, wont condense properly and will not save you money.
Dont forget the special drain that will have to be in place for the condensate. :-/
As for number 3, this is a good boiler (if its the one I'm thinking of), however the onboard diagnostics of this thing mean you will probably end up with a vaillant engineer coming to fix it rather than your ordinary plumber.
Remember. The more there is inside the case, the more there is to go wrong with it. :-/If only everything in life was as reliable...AS ME !!

Cheers RobOwen,
I think the company who will install the boiler has recommended the Worcester one,but gave me the choice on the other two.If no-one else has any other ideas it looks like the one for me...also the cheapest option

We went for a Worcester Bosch Greenstar HE35 (I think that is the correct name) for a 2 bed flat with 7 rads.
We knew that the rating was more than recommended for our flat but we wanted a nice strong shower so the more powerful heater allowed a greater flow rate.
It has worked perfectly and I would have no hesitation in recommending this boiler.Better to die on your feet than to live on your knees!0 -
Hi,
I totally agree with the choice of the Worcester Bosch 28i Junior.
Excellent boiler and very quiet.

Got the Vaillant last year, it's the bees knees.
Excellent product and well trusted by tradesmen.
Go for
2)Vaillant ecomax 828 condensing combi
Good Luck

I am also looking to upgrade my central heating and have had a quote from British Gas, however I've decided to shop round as I was not convinced it was the most competitive.
I've got a 3 bedroom house with 8 radiators. I'd be interested in a combi boiler and getting new radiators.
Someone recommended a Baxi HE 105 combi boiler, but to be honest I am not too sure where to begin and the most cost effective way to go about all of this.
Sorry to be repeating the same question as earlier, but I don't want to make an expensive mistake.
Thanks0 -
This is a total nightmare,i think all three are very good boilers,as some of you have one or the other.I presume it is going to be down to me & buget.I must admit i am leaning to the Worcester one.I dont want overkill, something that will heat not just my house but also the rest of the street.....
Anyway the search goes one....LoL

My Ideal condensing boiler (still waiting for part after 3 weeks) is excellent apart from spare heat exchangers! When it was fitted it was deliberately undersized as the condensing feature works best when it goes flat out.
We use it for heating & hot water. 11 rads & on a lot = £30/month. Not bad.
The moral is go for a condensing boiler with a good spares back up.
Which Magazine found British Gas to be the most expensive supplier/installer of boilers.Nice to save.0 -
I have been told that my boiler will be replaced by a recommended Wiseman condensing boiler (I currently have a 20 year old Vaillant combi). Has anyone had experience with a Wiseman, and will the steam cause problems with my neighbour?0
