  • They're all direct from Heathrow :)

I guess BA for the miles then! And business takes the price from £440 to £2600ish? :p

Air Canada and Delta do not fly direct to San Francisco, come to think of it neither does American. SF is a major hub for United and although their seats have been 10 years behind the times in Business Class they have started replacing them with lie flat beds and despite their age, I really like the crews. I have never been a fan of Virgin, hype and very little substance and BA Club would have been my choice until a few days ago. Speaking to a colleague who flew back from Melbourne last week, he said the service on board in Club was poor, the staff appeared to have lost all interest in the concept of service and the food quality and quantity had fallen through the floor. I agree with others that Air New Zealand is by far the best transatlantic carrier but they don't fly to San Francisco so that is not much help either.

If you already have miles waht about upgrading your economy ticket to premium economy?
There again, if your company is paying they'll be like mine... buy the cheapest ticket that you can't upgrade...

Out of the list given, I would give another vote to BA. However, in economy I would go indirect with Air France (possibly more because I can fly from BHX, not such an issue if you are closer to London).
    Gone ... or have I?

If it were me, I'd go Virgin. Have used both BA and Virgin and Virgin were miles better - am going to Washington DC this spring and have booked a flight with Virgin. Refuse to give my business to BA any more if I can avoid it.
  • I went to San Francisco with BA in Club World last year and I cannot stress how good it was!! I cannot comment on the other airlines as I have not been with them. I normally fly Premium Economy with BA which is acceptable but from now I will try and use their Club service more often!
    Happy :)
  • Well, bearing in mind I'm not sure how many points are needed for an upgrade and whether the £440 tickets shown on travel supermarket are available to be upgraded, I think I'll still go with BA.

Their planes last time had a great selection of entertainment and food and I'd say it was absolutely fine. 6 out of 10 I guess (though for economy maybe more like 8 or 9 out of 10)...

The other flights I had no idea about but it sounds like there wouldn't be much difference, so at least with BA I get the miles!

Hey all - I went with BA and it was a fantastic flight.. coming back it was fine too and the food was great plus the entertainment!

Due to strikes I think this time I'll be going with Virgin or Delta though :)

    I've been Money Tipped!
If you choose to go direct then definately fly with Virgin Atlantic, DD returned recently having travelled on this route and said everything about the flight was good value for money.
