Disconecting from broadband HELP
Hi
I have been on Tiscali broadband for over a year and have now disconected from them, and have requested to change over to BT broadband (personal reason's for doing this).
Problem is that it takes 10 days for tiscali to release the line and BT 5 days to reconect it! (is it me or is this pointless
) So I am without broadband for 15 days minimum! I have had to go back to jolly ol' dial-up so I can check my emails etc.
Has anyone else had this problem, did it take as long? what can I do? HELP Please ???

When i changed from One Tel broadband to Virgin broadband the process was quite straightforward
I requested a MAC code from the old provider and gave this to the new provider
This way the serviice remained live with Onetel until the same day that its switched to Virgin
I suggest you check with Tiscali + BT whether you can do this (it may be too late to do this if they have disconnected you)
The MAC code is a universal code to allow you to change providers relatively easily0 -
you should not cancel it first, as if you get disconnected you will have to pay activation charge again.
need a mac number then migrate to another isp, will be no interuption in service.0 -
thanks for that was not aware of a mac code i think it might be a bit late for me - but i'll give it a try.
I dont think that may people know about this!:wave:0 -
many isps advertise the fact that you can migrate to them from another provider.
the same as anything, read the help and support on the web site of the isp.
ask on a forum such as this if not sure first!0 -
Does anyone know if you have to change over at a specific time of the month? Or does your monthly charge get pro-rated based on number of days you actually used it with a specific provider?
Is there any risk that you end up paying 2 monthly charges in the month that you transfer?
I'm with Tiscali too and want to change to one that is cheaper - as Tiscali's new packages are still more than some others....0 -
you can not use 2 isp's at same time(on adsl). as long as you have completed any tie in time the chargers should not overlap.0
