Condenser tumble dryers - good?

We've got a condensor. A bottom of the range hotpoint. It's OK. I've never had better, but we've always gone for cheap. The only downside is that we probably only get a few years out of them.
I tend to start out on a clothes airer in the utility room (with dehumidifier running). Then half an hour in the tumble drier to finish it off and leave it nice and soft (and mostly not needing ironing). If I'm doing a few loads at once the utility room gets nice and warm and the stuff dries very quickly on the airer.0 -
I have just done a search online and found various references to maintainance of condesnsor dryers and decided to clean a bit deeper than just the filter and the condensor unit. And my god I was shocked at what i found. In all sorts of crevices in the area where the lint filter goes, I found inches of fluff and old tissues etc, all hardened, and this would obviously impede the air flow, I also pulled the machine a bit away from the wall, so as to improve air flow too, I have just done a load of towels in the newly cleaned machine and they dried in just under an hour. Result! So, clean the whole machine regularly, may save you a few quid a week in electricity!!
CC limits £26000
Long term CC debt £0
Total low rate loan debt £3000
Almost debt free feeling, priceless.
Ex money nightmare, learnt from my mistakes and never going back there again, in control of my finances for the first time in my adult life and it feels amazing.0 -

Thread resurrection!
Thanks for this post. I dug deeper than the usual filter and found a pound coin, a pair of earrings and a hge amount of fluff and sweet wrappers. This has made a huge difference to drying time. It's well worth looking further than just the main filter!0 -
I have a condensor - takes about an hour to dry a full load of washing - dunno how that compares to vented though! I like mine very much.0
