  • Hi PA thanks for popping into my diary, i was getting lonely !
I also go to w watchers. As I help out I get a free weigh in though:money: Might be worth asking if they need anyone.

I just popped in to read my diary and ended up reading your entire thread! Very inspiring well done!

I know what you mean about dh and the lack of dealing with finance. my dh is the same. I thought the treacle tart purchase was hilarious though!!

Totally with you on becoming obsessive. I am too, although I am taking little tiny steps. I am only a couple of years younger than you but have two smallish children - and so little time.

Can you give me some info on your energy monitor. Are they expensive and where do you buy them from. If it cuts our usage it would be worth it. Mind you fed up of asking dd's to turn lights, music, tv off etc etc

I'm with Elsie about being recognised - it does worry me too !

Camping - no not for me either. Don't mind a caravan though !

Anyway fab diary - have subscribed x

    Debt Diary day 19

    Hi Yummymommy

Thanks for subscribing to my diary - glad you are enjoying the ramblings of a mad woman:rotfl:

The energy monitor I purchased was this one from Amazon - except it's now £4 cheaper than when I bought it a couple of weeks ago  Still it is definitely cutting back our electricity usage. You can get one free from British Gas if you sign up to their energy tariff - and although we are currently with BG I didn't want to change at the moment so we bought one. The one I bought was the top recommended one by Which.

WW - I cancelled my subscription tonight. Discussed this with a couple of friends and we decided we will have our own weigh in club at one of our houses each week. We have the points calculators and can create trackers ourselves on our PCs - so in true DFW style I have just cut out almost £18 pm. I will have to see how it goes though - because I am not a very disciplined dieter:o They have loads of helpers at our WW meetings so can't imagine they need anymore, but I will see how I go on this new regime and may end up going back with my tail between my legs as the saying goes.

I got EagerLearner's clicking guide by email tonight - am a bit unsure of everything, tried signing up to a couple of the sites through the links in the documents (well - I did sign up) but it does seem like an awful lot of hard work to me but maybe I am missing something. I haven't given up yet and will perservere tomorrow (oops make that later today:rotfl:), but in all honesty I can't see me getting very far with this.

So if I am to make an extra £100 pm income it looks like ebay is it at the moment. Only got a couple of items listed so far but I do have a few high value items (well okay not HIGH value, but £70 plus - and that's if they make that price, but I will put a reserve on them so they don't sell for silly money and I end up depressed;)).

Hopefully some more payments will go out of the bank today and I can get that debt figure down even further.

  • Hi, On subject of energy monitors. I followed a link on the disability and dosh forum on a thread called called 'Free Stuff from British Gas' and it gives you a code to claim an energy monitor for free. Think it's if you are in receipt of certain benefits but it's worth a look!:o

British gas rang me last week and said they would send me one of those monitors. I did not contact them so it must be something new they are doing.
  • Hi Planning

Thanks for the link. I've just been approved for the Amazon cc. After first spend I will be allowed to a £15 amazon voucher so I could put it towards this.

Yes the clicks do take time and unfortunately I don't have all that time at the mo. I do topcashback, (the best in my opinion ,because they don't charge an annual fee and there isn't a minimum amount before you can request payment from them), and quidco. If you purchase anything over the internet always check to see if the merchant is available through the cashback sites first. This way you are earning money on money that you would have spend anyway. I've confused myself now - so hope that makes sense !:rotfl:

Good idea with the weight watchers. Most of us know what to do anyway and if you've got moral support with your friends then there's no point paying that amount per month. Fingers crossed that it works x

Right popping for a coffee with Elsie, sorting dd's and early night for me tonight.

BTW free energy saving lightbulb on freebies forum. xx

    Hi Planning,

Good luck with ebay.........I did some last month so I am giving it a rest for the moment. (Can't face going to the post office again, I was there almost every day for a couple of weeks)

Hope you get the hang of the daily clicks, again its something I havn't tried. I just can't drum up the enthusiasm when I get home from work. I think I must be getting lazy in my old age.!! :o

Good luck also with the dieting, I am supposed to be trying, but again don't feel motivated to do so, perhaps when the better weather comes it may spur me on. We do eat healthily though, lots of salads, vegetables and fruit etc. I don't like chips or fast food, (so why am I fat?):rotfl::rotfl:

Quite a quiet day for me today, just the usual work and ironing etc, but I have had a NSD today so that is good.

    Bye for now.

    PS. Yummymomy..

I don't have a diary yet.........I keep saying I am going to do one, but my plan is to start one later this year, hopefully for my 12 month countdown.:T

June 2010 - 11/56 lbs Weight to lose before May 2011.

  • Good news (sort of) - I just transferred £3k CC to 0% for 13 months.

Well I am just checking my CC accounts online and the transfer hasn't gone through yet. I was accepted on 22nd Jan - so a week ago now. I have no idea how long transfers take but it is so annoying to keep checking and not to see one card balance reduce drastically (even though I know there is going to be another new CC to pay, at least it will be at 0%). Obsessive account checking is very likely (definitely) going to continue tomorrow and the day after and the day after etc etc etc:mad:

Dieting is not going well today - made shortbread for the family tonight and of course I just had to test it:o

I haven't even finished the ebay listings yet - that thing called life interrupted me:rotfl: - seriously I have been so busy with family things that I haven't had time. I will ensure it's done and uploaded tomorrow.

well done on tackling this now, when you still have earning power, rather than later.

Have you thought about trying mystery shopping? you can often do them in your lunch times etc
