Wanting to be debt free BEFORE retirement!

Lol, thankfully it was only the bra:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I'm struggling with the diet at the moment aswell. I think it's the cold weather and dark nights. I know that I will be more motivated in the spring, (if we get one that is!) and am just being kind to myself at the moment. My eating crisis is always during the evening after I've had dinner and I'm not really hungry at all ! My name is yummymommy and I'm a chocoholic!!!!
Sending cyber hugs regarding car bill. I think because we obsess about money so much and want to clear our debts so badly it's such a massive dissapointment when we get "out of the blue" expenses.

At least a new bra is loads cheaper than a new washing machine planning_ahead:rotfl::rotfl:I've had that happen and always use one of those net bags these days, seems to help.
On the diet front, do you meal plan? I find the best way to avoid unsuitable food is to plan a menu/shopping list and stick to it. I only buy 'treats/junk' for OH and make sure it's biscuits/crisps that I don't really like so no temptation. Of course it doesn't stop me making too large portions but I've cracked it with the meat, don't care about the veg and now just need to work on the potatoes/carbs.
Hi
The bra was in a net bag when I put it in the washing machine....the wires must have just popped out of the mesh:rotfl:
I only buy treats and junk for OH as well...trouble is, if they are in the house I will eat them. Debt diary day 36
Sitting here feel sorry for myself. Full of flu (well it's a cold, but I want sympathy...so flu it is;))
Finally got the car back from the garage yesterday - she has been in for repair for a whole week:eek: - bill came to just over £800. I put it on a CC - but have already paid £300 off that, so just £500 to find now.
I haven't updated my debt total with this extra cost because I am determined to pay it all off before the end of the month. I don't expect the total to reduce very much (if at all) during the month as I am throwing every spare penny at the car bill. If for any reason I can't clear it all before end of Feb I will update my totals as I don't want to kid myself I owe less than I really do.
On the diet front - things looking up (or down depending on how you look at it) as I appear to have lost 2lb this week (but weigh in is Sunday so I won't count my chickens just yet:rotfl:)
Have a great debt busting day everyone...I am off to bed and intend to stay there for as long as it takes for my [STRIKE]cold[/STRIKE] flu to go:(NR [STRIKE]£5542[/STRIKE]£2771 BC [STRIKE]£7987[/STRIKE]£7700 BC [STRIKE]£3000[/STRIKE]£5100 Cat1 Pd Cat2 Pd Ulstr [STRIKE]£3400[/STRIKE]£3070 TSB [STRIKE]£4851[/STRIKE]£4400 MBNA [STRIKE]£7700[/STRIKE]£3887 NWst [STRIKE]£950[/STRIKE] £700 Hfx [STRIKE]£10097[/STRIKE]£10050 Asda [STRIKE]£398[/STRIKE] £315 HFX1 Pd Hfx2 [STRIKE]£3133[/STRIKE] £3000

Just got the latest MBNA statement and we have been rate-jacked:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
As far as I am aware we didn't receive any notification from them. I have been VERY aware of interest rates we are paying since my LBM and I took the information for my SOA from the latest statements. At that point (mid Jan) the rate was 23.9% and it is now 30.35%
It's on DH account - not mine - so I can't talk to them about it. He is contacting them to question the rise and why he wasn't informed (I can't believe I missed it unless they told us BEFORE my LBM).
He is also going to challenge it as per Martin's instructions for closing the account and repaying at current rates (ie the rate BEFORE the rate jack).
Will let you know how we get on;)NR [STRIKE]£5542[/STRIKE]£2771 BC [STRIKE]£7987[/STRIKE]£7700 BC [STRIKE]£3000[/STRIKE]£5100 Cat1 Pd Cat2 Pd Ulstr [STRIKE]£3400[/STRIKE]£3070 TSB [STRIKE]£4851[/STRIKE]£4400 MBNA [STRIKE]£7700[/STRIKE]£3887 NWst [STRIKE]£950[/STRIKE] £700 Hfx [STRIKE]£10097[/STRIKE]£10050 Asda [STRIKE]£398[/STRIKE] £315 HFX1 Pd Hfx2 [STRIKE]£3133[/STRIKE] £3000

Parallel life AGAIN - just had letter from my Virgin cc stating that the rate will be rising to 29.9%. Going to close it down and repay at current rate (the letter even explained that I could do this!) Been a Virgin customer for years - still won't need them when I'm debt free!:jProud to be dealing with my debts, light bulb moment: 2/1/2010, reviewed 7/1/20120

We do seem to follow similar paths with our debts and lives;)
I am fairly sure that Virgin is MBNA - so maybe they did send DH a letter about the rate rise. He says definitely not, but maybe they did and he just didn't read it / take it in.
I will just have to see what we can do to sort this out asap.NR [STRIKE]£5542[/STRIKE]£2771 BC [STRIKE]£7987[/STRIKE]£7700 BC [STRIKE]£3000[/STRIKE]£5100 Cat1 Pd Cat2 Pd Ulstr [STRIKE]£3400[/STRIKE]£3070 TSB [STRIKE]£4851[/STRIKE]£4400 MBNA [STRIKE]£7700[/STRIKE]£3887 NWst [STRIKE]£950[/STRIKE] £700 Hfx [STRIKE]£10097[/STRIKE]£10050 Asda [STRIKE]£398[/STRIKE] £315 HFX1 Pd Hfx2 [STRIKE]£3133[/STRIKE] £3000

Debt diary - day 42
Hi everyone:j
I haven't posted for a few days - heavy cold and feeling generally very sorry for myself:( Now on the mend and feeling much more cheerful and positive about life.
Well, the update is that the car is running beautifully, but I am not going to achieve my goal of clearing the car bill before the end of Feb:(. Finding an extra £800 in one month was just a push too far, but I am pleased to say that I have cleared more than half of it (just under £500 actually). On the positive side at least I have tried as in the past I would not even have thought of clearing it. So hopefully (definitely;)) I will clear the remainder in March:T The good news is that the Snowball calculator still estimates the same end month for our debt free date so I don't feel quite so bad about this now:j
On the MBNA card front - interest is back where it was and we have 'closed' the account, ie we are paying the balance off at the old rate. Well, we never intended to use the flipping thing again anyway:D
Have a great day everyone:beer:NR [STRIKE]£5542[/STRIKE]£2771 BC [STRIKE]£7987[/STRIKE]£7700 BC [STRIKE]£3000[/STRIKE]£5100 Cat1 Pd Cat2 Pd Ulstr [STRIKE]£3400[/STRIKE]£3070 TSB [STRIKE]£4851[/STRIKE]£4400 MBNA [STRIKE]£7700[/STRIKE]£3887 NWst [STRIKE]£950[/STRIKE] £700 Hfx [STRIKE]£10097[/STRIKE]£10050 Asda [STRIKE]£398[/STRIKE] £315 HFX1 Pd Hfx2 [STRIKE]£3133[/STRIKE] £3000

Debt repayments back on track - after the car repair bill:mad: and now going down again nicely (well, 1st of month and payday and all that:D).
Best news is that the first of my debts is cleared....I have PAID IN FULL one of the catalogue debts....only a small debt, but baby steps and I will get there with all the debts:j
