Yeah! Right! Of course you're not after compensation :rolleyes2! Let's hope they just send you a voucher for 1 cup of coffee. Perhaps you could put in a claim on the drivers insurance too !

So if it was a restaurant where you pay before you sit down - would you still be whinging ?

How is it the restaurants fault that some third party rammed into the wall? Sounds like they did the right thing in getting everyone out in case of structural damage and collapse. If they had let you finish your drink first no doubt you would be moaning that they weren't quick enough to respond. Why didn't you just carry the cup outside and finish it ?

Just another example of the Compensation Culture . What's wrong with just being grateful that you escaped injury? After seeing what has happened in Haiti this sort of money-grubbing attitude makes me sick .

For what it's worth, you are under no obligation to pay for a meal if you are not happy with the standards of food, service or surroundings. The police won't get involved as it's a civil matter.

Buying a meal is a contract between you and the restaurant - their side of the contract is to provide you with food cooked to an acceptable standard, courteous staff and in surroundings with a certain level of comfort. Your side of the contract is to pay the bill if the service you've received reaches those standards.

In that situation I'd not have paid as Little Chef clearly did not fulfill their side of the contract, whether or not the circumstances were their fault.

What makes me sick is moany old sods with no sense of perspective using genuine tragedy to try and bolster their whinges.

Tell me, would you be alright with it if there'd not been the earthquake in the Caribbean, then?

It was safe enough to let them stay long enough to pay, though?

So the OP's partner narrowly escapes serious injury and then whines about the price of a cup of coffee - and you say I have no sense of perspective??:confused: Whatever :D.

Definately after compensation - just another moneygrubbing chancer .

I think you should complain about your partner and you thinking it was ever acceptable to eat in a LittleChef....

Ok, I admit it, Ive never been to a little chef, so I dont know how it works.....do you order and pay, then get your food, or order, eat and then pay? to me that puts a different light on the matter..

If you pay before you get, then it would have been unrealistic to process refunds before evacuating, they had to prioritise...it was a potential safety issue, they were more concerned about getting people out which was the right thing.

In that case a quick letter to the manager is likely to get you a refund or complimentary drink.

If you pay after you eat, then why on earth did they make people pay before evacuating, they have not got their priorities right, if the building could be unsafe they should not be keeping customers there until they have settled their bill !
