Was thinkng about the people that look after my kids and vice versa me looking after their kids and we actually don't pay each other....is there something you can do in return ie give them lifts places if she doesn't drive??? Pick them (her mates too) up after nights out to save on taxis?? Maybe she would appreciate that more?

anyway whatever you decide have a great time away and enjoy yourself as much as possible x

I'm really surprised at this point because my daughter is a childminder who I help out on occasion (staying with the babies while she does the school run for the older ones or vice versa) and I had to be CRB checked.

I was surprised too. In my son's school, if a parent just helps out at the school library or accompanies the children to the swimming pool (with teachers obviously), they still need to be CRB-checked.

i think £25 per hour is quite reasonable if the time does not last long.

hi. in my opinion, (has she childcare qualifications?)...if not i would say min wage. i am a NVQ level three in childcare and babysit in spare time, i normally get seven pound an hour. ive now got a job as a nanny :T which is better pay so i suppose its up to you as what u class her as?A baby sitter or childminder/nanny???? x
  • Hi all,

A friends daughter has offered to babysit for us and we have of course said that we would pay her. However, I have no idea how much to pay. I asked her what she wanted per hour but she didn't really give us an answer (think she felt a bit awkward). If this works then I want to use her again so I don't want to give her too little but also can't afford to give too much.

She is 19 and will have the kids from 8.30am until 6.30pm (so quite a long day).

    Any thoughts?

    TIA, Ging x

I'm now 23 and have been babysitting since I was about 14/15.

I babysit for friends and family. When I was being paid when I was in Sixth Form it was around £10-15 for an evening and then £5-10 extra if I finished after midnight.

For a whole day it would have been between £25 and maybe £35 - it really depended on how long for and for how many kids really.

Also I've been CRB checked since I was 16 as I did children's work at church. (Worked with special needs kids as well)

    Han :)
