What should I do next - Paypal/seller issue.

I agree jenniferpa, if the I accept paypal box isn't ticked then I wouldn't even see an auction where paypal was offered in the listing but not in the main options, which is why I had thought people had stopped trying to circumvent the rules in this way.
Alo, if people don't like paying the paypal fees then surely the simplest solution is just not to use it? I can't see why it ever needs to be a problem then..no use it , no paypal fees...surely?

Thanks everyone, I'm a she by the way
. I am in the process of setting up my account for bank account funding so I would be able to do that some time next week. Although, as someone pointed out, I am less than keen on paying her until she contacts me and explains the problem. I am totally flexible so all we need is a little communication! I figured out how to get her contact details via ebay so I have those and I'm going to phone. Does anyone know how long I should wait until I either report her or give up? I am not even bothered about reporting her, to be honest, I am more concerned that she will give me negative feedback and I would like to continue looking for another item if she doesn't want to sell. 0 -

I was under the impression that even if a buyer was to pay with their debit card (issued by the bank) then the seller accepting the payment would still need to have an upgraded PayPal account to be able to accept the payment.-->♥<-- Sugar Coated Owl -->♥<--

yes, you 'should' take ALL paypal payments, but this policy only exists to force paypal sellers to upgrade to fee paying accounts
I'm in agreement with this. It is just another case of ebay/paypal using its monopoly to force people in to taking on accounts with charges.
They could quite easily change it so there was a different icon for the different accounts or set it up so that there was a clear differentiation between the accounts.
I think if the seller clearly states in the auction that it is a basic paypal account only and cannot accept card payments, then that is an acceptable compromise.
Now, for the chorus of replies of "that is against ebay T&C", well quite frankly that needs to be taken with a pinch of salt. Those T&C are not there for the benefit of anyone other than ebay/paypal arm twisting users into accepting premier accounts. And don't tell me you've never broken any rules, never parked on a Yellow Line for a couple of minutes, gone a couple miles an hour over the speed limit?
For those that have driving licences and reply no, I hope never to bump into you at a party, because you must be a real bundle of laughs.0 -
While most of us agree that ebay and paypal rules serve only to make more money for ebay and paypal, laughing in the face of those rules is asking for trouble.
Just my opinion. And I can't drive, incidentally. My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
If you can't abide by the rules then quite simply don't use PayPal.-->♥<-- Sugar Coated Owl -->♥<--

Er.. what rules are they? Ebay/paypal rools okay!0 -
Yes that is what I meant. If you aren't prepared to abide by PayPal/eBay rules then you shouldn't use it. The rule being referred to in this thread is to do with a seller displaying the PayPal logo on their listing and then refusing a payment from a credit/debit card. eBay say that if you use the PayPal logo then you should accept all types of payment.-->♥<-- Sugar Coated Owl -->♥<--

Mini update for anyone who may be interested. She finally contacted me by phone after I left her a telephone message yesterday. She did say she emailed me but I have no idea what happened there - I always check it and even checked my junk mail folder. Nothing through ebay either. Basically she didn't want to upgrade her paypal account because she doesn't know how much she will be selling on ebay. She told me she would accept a cheque (!?!) on delivery and I offered cash. I think she is just a bit of an inexperienced newbie, some of her other auctions said 'payment by credit card' so it's fair to say she doesn't understand she can't accept those types of payments. She did blame pregnancy brain so I had to laugh.
Oh well, at least we are sorted in the end. I think I may be more wary of new sellers from now on.
Thanks for your help.0
