Which mobile phone deal

It's that time of the 'not quite year' (18 month contracts :p) where I have to change my mobile phone.

Last time around I got a Samsung G600 on a cashback redemption deal from moblieexpress.co.uk. The redemption thing was a bit of hassle but they were true to their word and the effective cost was around £15pm for 18 months, which I was happy with.

The problem is I'm well out of my league this time as I have no idea what the current decent handsets are. My needs are:

* A handset that is relatively stylish, reliable, and not too bulky (especially hate really wide ones. iphone is too big IMHO)
* A handset that can use WLAN to access the internet for free.
* A handset that can access the internet when WLAN isn't available and not cost a fortune!
* 200 mins and 200 texts (300 mins or 400 mins would be better)
* Preferably on O2, but I could be convinced to change
* No intial purchase costs (or very small)
* An effective monthly cost of between £10 and £20.

I would also appreciate an explanation as to how most companies work the internet thing. For example, I'm on a night out and there is no WLAN I can access. I use the internet to check hotmail, facebook and settle a debate via a google search. How much is that going to cost me? If it's 15p for 5-10 mins of hacking about then fine..if it's several £ then it's a rip-off.

Suggestions for a handset, appreciated.

Links for a deal, really appreciated.

  • Anyone?

Thoughts on the Nokia 5800 as a handset? Is that a decent model? Does another manufacturer do a similar but better handset?

Too many questions - there are tons of deals for you to look at on the net - find one and come back to get an opinion on it.

5800 - ok phone - samsung tocco probably more in the price range you expect.

WLAN access is not free (unless someone lets their routers free or if you have iphone or something and get o2 hotpots for free) - you would need a internet bolt on (which can cost £5 a month for 500MB data usage, 1gig or whatever).
  • Ok, I'm fairly set on a 5800 after a bit of research. I'd ideally like to stick with 02 as well.

Can anyone recommend a good deal? I need at least 200 mins, don't give a hoot about texts and at £1 a day for the web I can live with that (don't think I need the £7.50 unlimited web add-on, as I'd probably only use it a few times a month (I work from home, don't travel much)).
