Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
had this the other day with my car. motor didn't appear to be making a noise. couple of things to try.
1)unplug the tube where it connects to the nozzle on the bonnet, (using a tray or something to lay it in, try doing the screenwash. if this works, motor is fine and the nozzles are blocked
2)clear the nozzles using a piece of fuse wire (without the tube on, otherwise you'll just push the blockage into the tube.)
just somethings to try before you take it to someone else.0 -
have you got a Citroen by any chance?
They cleverly put into the washer electrics to squirt 3 times. If its frozen then this will blow the fuse.
easily and cheap to replace:think:0 -
Ours is a Ford too. In the cold weather the pump froze (me stoopid put water in not screenwash!) there was no noise while pressing the button, but it did thaw eventually - luckily just before the MOT (they were a few stressful moments!).
It has fully thawed now though, so if yours is still not working in the milder weather it may be something more serious.I'm so sexy it's a wonder my underpants don't explode.0 -

OK Andrea:
Electrical extension lead and a hair dryer on "Head Cook" setting.Open bonnet and wave the Dryer around the nozzles, tubes and motor. Know it's a long time ago, but the OP spoke of sticking a pin in the nozzles and wiggling it. If you do that, try to remove the tubes from the underside of the nozzles. After the system is thawed and working again, you may need to replace the bonnet and operate the washers. Check where the spray is hitting the windscreen and adjust, but carefully: only tiny movements. A wiggle of more than a few mm, can result in a large movement of the spray. Patience is needed.
I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.
