Can any of us lovely MSE peepes provide inspiration? What is your disertation about? Put us to the test!"It's official, MSE's harbouring total fruitcakes">^..^<0

lol if you could it would be awesome.
The title stands as
The failings of Northern Rock, prevention and detection. A critical analysis of the Auditors and Directors responsibility.
(The title can be moulded to the rest)
My main problems concern the literature review. There doesn't seem to be alot on this.
But I feel like somebody else must have looked into this in depth.
The other thing that concerns me is... do I have to use numerical data? I personally don't see why this would be necesary.
My ideas for investigation:
Looking at how much other (similar) companies were charged for audit work.
The thinking behind this is, companies who pay too much are almost saying, look audit us but turn a blind eye to things that may look bad to shareholders. (don't know if i've worded it right here)
A look at the CEO's and executives at the time the collapse happened. An analysis of whether they were up to the job.
A brief look at building societies, demutualisaton, and ethical issues leading on to the governments plan to (maybe) remutualise Northern Rock.
Legislations that have been brought into place to prevent the same thing happening again.
Thanks guys0 -
What are you wanting from your supervisor that he isn't giving you?
As others have said, don't use an essay-writing service. By this time you should be at the writing-up stage, having done all the research. Getting things like an introduction, literature review, methods down should be fairly straightforward since this should have been done prior to undertaking the research.0 -
well this is the thing, he didn't like my first topic, so i've had to change it, and change it. It's just getting difficult to get an opinion on anything.

if i would you i would ask for an extention form your tutor rather than buying an essay off the net....credit card bill. £0.00
overdraft £0.00
Help from the state £0.000 -
Why didn't he like it? Did he think it was too broad, too narrow, already been done to death, too unique, something else?
I have a knack for choosing topics which there is little to no literature on. You work around it. Bring in material from other disciplines, use stuff that doesn't necessarily seem relevant at first glance. Finding one piece of literature is all you need to spark you off, I've found.
Have you actually done any of the research work yet?0 -
Yea, I'm not doing the buying thing, just think I became overwhelmed with panic. At the end of the day my degree's my achievement, and i'd rather get a 2:1 (fingers crossed) one thats mine than anything else, that wasn't all mine.0
-
Yeah he would say it's too broad, or not academic enough, has already been done, doesn't relate to my degree etc.
I'm sticking with this one though.
Yes i've started researching, i'm currently looking through sciencedirect.

My chosen dissertation topic has not been researched at all and my superviser is looking into me getting funding from the government to take it to a MA Ed research, although I have not found research on my area I have written about things leading up to my subject and the effects!0

To be honest, it's good advice rather than him not liking it as such. Undergraduates rarely get the balance right when choosing a topic, according to my supervisor. They either aim far too high or play it far too safe. Most need some tweaking and most don't really end up being the same idea that was submitted at the proposal and ethics clearance stage.
By researching have you started the 'field work' aspect? Interviews, questionnaires, focus groups, whatever it is you are using? For a project due in a month this should really have already been done. Can you arrange a meeting with your supervisor and talk things through?0
