Zorro - it took me 2 attempts to figure out the point of Twitter and longer to get used to how it worked. I'm still just a backseat, celeb-stalking, comp-entering twit Best thing is just to get stuck in and pick it up as you go along

There was no "point" to twitter. IT happened to become useful almost by accident when people found that (like Facebook) the tweets were indexed by Google and boosted the ratings hugely...this is why comps get us retweeting, each one is a relevant incoming link to their product, and some of them produce thousands of incoming links (even some from here which are also a huge boost given MSEs popularity and ranking in search engines).

A company would need to spend tens of thousands to match the results a member of staff can create just by adding a few tweets and building up followers retweeting them for a few prizes (creme eggs or crisps lol ) .

So..next time you retweet you're promoting their product, much more than yu would by visitng and filling out a form or telling a few mates...this is why twitter is suddenly worth a fortune despite being annoying and pointless
