Blackberry offer from Orange or O2 - shall I mmm...

Hi
My contract runs out in a year with Orange after being with them for donkeys years. We moved a few months ago and unfortunately our reception in our flat is dreadful to non-existent.
I would really like a blackberry now, as I am self employed.
I have gone through my usage over the year. I need unlimited texts but only 100mins calls I recon.

Orange quote:
Blackberry 8900 or Bold - free
100mins / unlimited texts
Unlimited BB usage
All for £20pm :D
- regards the poor coverage Orange said that the phone has UMA which connects to our home wi-fi so I would get coverage in the flat.

O2 have good coverage and I have heard good things about them. They have quoted me:
Blackberry 8520 - free
100 mins / unlimited texts
unlimited bb usage
All for £25pm (24 month contract).
- The plus is, I will get good coverage without having to rely on this UMA which i have never heard of (oh God, more Google-ing to do tonight)

I would really love to reduce my present bill of £25pm but coverage is paramount.
Any help would be most welcome
thanks

I would go with Orange and use UMA in your flat. The Bold is a far better phone than the 8520.
  • Just commented on this on the O2 retentions thread in more detail - go with Orange and get the Bold.

The 8900 is a superior phone to 8520. With regard to UMA I actually use this on my 8900 as my mobile reception was non existent where I live. UMA is very good.
The best part for me is that there is the fact that because I had a UMA capable phone I was able to get a discontinued Orange Broadband package from Orange called Broadband Unlimited.

Although discontinued it is still available if you have a UMA capable phone. Orange package name for UMA is Orange Unique. The broadband package is up to 8mb speed, 40gb download, a second phone line giving you free calls 24/7 to 01,02 & 03 numbers and 30 international destinations(Subject to 1000 minutes fair usage policy) all for the princely sum of £5 per mth. I more than make the saving of £5 on the free calls alone.

Now some on here will say "Orange Broadban is usless, don't bother" all I can say to this is I have been with Orange Broadband since Freeserve then Wanadoo before Orange took them over and now currently Orange. However if you do get problems they are sorted out far better than the ordinary Broadband issues as your phone connection relies upon your broadband to get a signal at home. Problems are taken far more seriously.

I live in an unbundled area and I challenge anyone to come up with a better package than this for £5 per mth.
