Does anyone who booked this know if you really need to produce ID?

I've booked a £29 room the 17th of February which is great but I need the 16th too and they want £199 for it and the website says once it hits the top price it doesn't drop - I think I might end up cancelling it if I can't give it to someone else as I have to travel across London late on the 16th and was hoping the cheaper deal would balance out the taxi fare :o As it is I could stay at a decent hotel nearer to Earls Court for the same price over two nights. :o

  • It does say you can only have 1 room at that price...

I have managed to book a room for the 31st March as I have a hospital appointment on 1st... Got the £29 and had confirmation. What a bargain! :)
So much for 'Money Saving' ;)

There seem to have been quite a few incidences of people being charged the normal rate for rooms. You haven't been conned, you've more than likely made the booking from the standard booking system.

There are two tabs on the site on the day of the sale, one for the £1 sale and one for standard bookings. You can only get the sale rooms by clicking on the £1 or £29 buttons which appear on the sale page. Using the booking matrix on the standard system will only yield you the standard prices.
  • I got a £1 room. Is for April tho.
If anyone's interested for the future, here's how my experience went:

    1) as soon as timer hit '0:00:00' i refreshed the page
    2) the link to the sale bookings didn't appear, however I clicked just under the 'click here' (when the mouse changed from pointer to hand icon)
    3) I went straight for my date of choice (i would recommend only thinging of 1 date and zeroing in on it)
    4) clicked through the rest of process (manually entering card details etc.) and got confirmation.

p.s. remember to select the two days applicable to your reservation. i.e. check in day and check out day! I forgot, so had to re-click.
  • T&Cs say the named person who booked must be there to check in (with ID)

maybe worth a risk for £1 or £29 tho.

also there's £15 to change booking (subject to availability)

    £16 / £44 ain't bad i suppose either!

You cannot pay to change a promotional rate booking date.

You can change the named person if you ring up and are super polite. They will then issue a new booking confirmation.
