Hi All :hello:

Just wonderering if anyone had any better suggestions for a re-assembly compound to use on a Petit Godin Multifuel 10kw Large Oval following a complete stripdown to refabricate the steel outer shell.

Currently intending to use Fortafix temcem

Thanks in advance

No "Just Google".............. gives any hint of the existence of Godins' website.

I thought when you suggested the godin website you actually had been there. Not that I believe it would help anyway TBH.

Perhaps an engineering consulatation is not suitable for any MSE forum:(

Oh duncan, google certainly does work. I dont think a bit of heat resistant mastic is an engineering topic beyound MSErs :) but a bit of initiative is required - fireplace shops, flue specialists, even DIY forums - screwfix have a very good trade one. Failing your googling working, try a local fireplace or stove installer.

I can recommend this website and this product:

    http://www.fluesystems.com/sundries/info/flexseal.htm

The top broke off my stove and this stuff sealed it back on rock solid (in conjuction with fire rope also from that website) and hasn't cracked with the very high temps of the stove over the cold spell. The stuff arrived the next day too.

Many thanks Swipe: Fortafix do a good range and and an endorsement of flexseal is welcome. However I am looking for the full 1200 °C and flexseal is limited to 380 °C which is good enough for flues and external patches but not really good enough for sight glasses, primary chamber, etc.

Just to move people along:D secondary combustion in a unit of this type only starts to take place a temperatures >600 °C and furthermore temperatures of combustion( assuming no heat gain or loss) of fuel is ~2000 °C ±200 °C

Plenty of stuff will work for a while, year or two maybe. (any search) will bring up plenty of DIY cross referenced products that will be suitable for patching up, I am looking for something particular rather than crossing my fingers and hoping it will work I intend to match the specification of the product to the precise application.

Any usefull suggestions more than welcome
