Thanks guys. I didn't think of sports direct. I was hoping to spend too much money - on the sport direct site, they do have what look like decent ones (Karimoor) for £16. I think I'll get them.

It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical
  • I've got some berghaus gore tex walking boots and they've been fantastic in the snow.

Love my moon boots, keep my feet warm and snug and have brilliant grip too.

I have got Rohde goretex walking boots. I have been wearing them for about 5 years and they have certainly covered some miles! They were expensive but are completely waterproof and with a fleecy insole, keep my feet very warm. A good investment I think.

I have some of these and can really recommend them. They are comfy, warm, waterproof, sturdy, have good grip, dont get filthy and they still look reasonably stylish-ish lol. Check m and m direct as they often have them on offer.
Seriously I wear mine to death in the winter months - best money I ever spent on footwear :) hth

I wore a cheap pair of Weird Fish boots in the snow (very like Snowjoggers, which disappeared like hot cakes from M&M Direct in the last cold snap 3 months ago). I wear walking boots too.

Because I regularly end up on my bum with black ice, I looked into Get A Grips, which are regularly on QVC. Found these on ebay US.. DryGuy Grip On Monster Grips, which have more grips than Get A Grip: http://www.basegear.com/dryguy-monster-grip-ice-cleats.html.. not where I bought them from, just a picture, they cost £15 delivered. Worth it with all the walking I do, and the bumps I've had on my backside over the years!

These are similar.. http://www.outdoorgb.com/p/Alpenheat_Grips_Shoe_Spikes/ (Cheekily the retailer put the price up from £16.48 delivered a few months ago).

A cheaper option again is an ebay UK seller selling Swedish 'Yngsjöbrodden' no-slip ice-spikes/cleats for £8 delivered.
